Lately I have heard alot about the IQ system, and have done some research to find the difference between a CQ system and an IQ system.

I have the CQ system, but am curious to hear from those of you who have the IQ. What are the things you like about it the most? and have you ever tried the CQ system?

Am thinking of changing systems, but would like some input first. You can always be guaranteed to get an honest opinion here, and that is a good thing!

I have not tried the CQ system, but I love my IQ. I purchased the IQ because it was the most reasonably priced, extremely easy to learn (and I am still learning more), can take the tablet with me when traveling between homes and work on projects and very important is the consistent and great support. I like not dealing with cables - just a push of a button to go from manual to computer and back again. I like having the tablet right in front of me while quilting - look up, look down, look up ........... you get the picture: quilting and tablet are always right there together. Zoltan is very good at incorporating new features into the system as we quilters ask for them. He has regular updates (free) and most give us some great new feature plus the little things we want. Hopefully you have been able to play with an IQ and can make your own comparison.

Meg, the IQ sounds great, but I have not had a chance to test drive.....Maybe this winter in our travels I will have time to track one down to do that. Don't get me wrong, my CQ is great, but don't we always look for some thing better, easier???? The IQ has alot of functions that I think would be very useful.

Good luck Kerry - I know what you mean about always checking things out to find things that make our lives easier .......... love the process - and easier is definitely better - not necessarily quicker ....... LOL. If you are going to any of the shows, most (if not all) have the IQ and most shows are now having classes on the IQ. I first looked seriously at the IQ in a introduction (are you interested type) class at Innovations a few years ago. It was a great way to get a complete overview of the system.

I bought my IQ sight unseen. I had purchased my milli a few months earlier. I am not artistic so freehand would be a joke, following pantos is work, IQ looked easier. So I took the plunge and bought. I watched a demo of CQ and didn't think I wanted to hook and unhook cables everytime I wanted to change to freehand (or baste). As Meg stated we just touch the screen on our tablet and it lifts the rollers and that is it. It is so simple to learn and be able to use. I admit that I have not learned all of the new things that it is capable of doing because I am not in business but I love it. The updates are FREE. IQ is the only free update that I receive in all of the computer software that I own. Zoltan is always thinking and working to make new changes for quilters. Service is wonderful if you have a problem. IQ was also cheaper than CQ when I purchased mine. (More money left over to buy other goodies---fabric, thread, etc). If you are really good at freehand work, you can record your stitching and save it in your tablet to use again. Can you tell that I am a happy camper? Where are you located? You might find someone close to you that has one and could demo for you. I have friends come to my house a lot to just watch the milli and IQ work. They are amazed.

Good afternoon Kerry

I think we "talked" a while back about the Scrappy quilt you posted on a forum topic.

I am in central Alberta and have an Intelliquilter on order. How exciting is that. Due date Sept. 6/10. You will be more than welcome to come here to see this marvelous addition just as soon as I figure it out.

There is a lady in Emonton as well that has one, let me know if you are coming this way. Joan

Hi Kerry . . . here's a copy of the post I placed on the IQ forum . . if you contact me I'll answer any of your questions

IQ Better Than Ever !

I got IQ and I can’t believe I waited so long. For close to six years I’ve been a digitizing instructor and computerized quilter using CompuQuilter. My passion is in designing patterns and teaching digitizing and computerized quilting. It’s been important for me to stay informed about the features of all of the systems in order to update my digitizing course materials and to publish articles I’ve written about computerized quilting.

For quite sometime I’ve been very impressed with the advanced features and capabilities of IQ. They are simply . . . remarkable. There are options and refinement settings that don’t compare to any other system . . . period. An IQ Quilter is able to do what they can imagine, create a quilting scenario without restriction, using a sleek, logically progressing, touch screen, on-board computer tablet, with an easy to follow menu . . . . all at an affordable price.

The tablet can be removed from your quilting machine to take anywhere, to set-up and save quilting projects or to practice and play with your system. With built-in editing and layout capabilities, the quilter can pre-design and save anything from one block of quilting to an entire whole cloth with any number of designs. When the project layout is opened to quilt, one of IQ’s features makes custom placement of designs easy-peesy . . . advanced results from the start.

IQ is now better than ever as systems are beginning to ship with the new “super motors”. These motors offer higher quilting speeds with great accuracy. I’m so impressed with IQ I wanted to represent the fine company that Zoltan Kasa created. Maybe you’ve been sitting on the fence, wondering if you should go computerized, or perhaps you’ve realized that you don’t know enough to compare the differences between computerized systems. Go to IQ’s user group on Yahoo, observe the sharing and friendly atmosphere and look at the pictures of quilts being done with IQ, visit IntelliQuilterTraining.com to select from over 100 videos to see how IQ works, contact an IQ representative and ask questions. You can always contact me and I will be happy to tell you why I now quilt with an IQ over any other computerized system.

Warm Regards,

I have never used the COMPUQULTER. I've had my IQ for around a year now and love it. I cannot think of anything negative. The only problem that I had was the rubber came off one of my wheels. My rep and Zoltan already had put out a notice that there was a few motors that got wheels where the glue failed. Anyway, this happened late in the evening. I called my Rep and guess what, Zoltan overnighted the part "free" and I had it the next afternoon. The service cannot be beat. He just provided us with free patterns from 2 new designers. He also said there was more to follow. He's coming out with new motors and for those that want to work another project while IQ is driving your LA or you just don't want to carry the tablet (but I don't know who wouldn't) for classes, trips, etc. He's got the IQ program coming out on a "STIQ" (thumbdrive) which you can download on your computer (cost is xtra). I haven't seen any other company beat the price either. Ok, I'll stop for now because I love my IQ.
