SamQuiltDesigns
I have several Superior pre-filled bobbins and find they are getting very tangled & messy in my drawer. Does anyone have a suggestion how to best store these so I don't have to spend so much time detangling and cutting thread?
witha'K'quilting
now that is a mess. take a small piece of clear tubing and cut a small section out of it, then open it up and place it around the bobbin to keep the thread tails from unwinding. you can then a use thread spool case and lay the bobbins in them stacked on top each other. themselves. srichardson
You could try this tape http://www.superiorthreads.com/product/Notions/hugos-amazing-tape/ It would have to be cut to size but at least it can be reused lots of times.
lisae
What about a bobbin box such as this one: http://www.joann.com/bobbin-box-holds-28-bobbins/zprd_11384864a/ Or the bobbin saver: http://www.joann.com/bobbinsaver-bobbin-organizer-assorted-colors/prd29777/
quiltedsunflower
I've also seen the little pony tail holders used as bobbin savers. I only had boys, so I'm not familiar with them so maybe somebody else could comment.
cegates
Yes, the tiny ponytail holders work. We call them bobbin bikinis.

JustSewSimple
You are RIGHT, Bonnie! What a mess. To help with those, why not just send them to me and then you won't have to worry about getting them straight? :~)
sewingpup
I use those rubber donut shaped bobbin holders....but as you have bunch...I think I would sort them by color into old check boxes or jars or something.....that way at least you would not have to be handling the whole lot of them looking for the right color........I have similiar problems with my embroidery threads...they are also getting unwound and tangled even in my thread boxes....Lin
fineseams
I love the idea of the clear tubing!
Zora
Hugo's amazing tape is great. But, I would sort them by color and put them in those zipper sandwich bags, then in a plastic box. Less to dig through anyhow.
RitaR
I have plenty of meds that come in skinny short, med, and tall, fat that are short, med, Tall, and a couple even fatter. I put one color in each, then as the supply gets lower, those in the fat bottles are moved to a tall skinny bottle. I put the color names on the tops with white duct tape. Also, I use them in the non child proof sides of the lids. Creaky hands just won't open them on the child proof side. I then keep them in one larger container. I think I'm using a clear tray that is for ice cubes from the ice maker. They can also be laid down in shallow boxes, and put the names on the bottles. I lay them with the top of one against the bottom of another, sort of in a tumbler quilt pattern. That saves room, frustration, etc. Rita
Norma H
I like Rita's use of the empty med bottles. In the past I've cut a slit in the side of the pre-wound cards and kept them "kind of sorted". but using the empty meds and keeping them sorted, I'm realizing I could use one again when I have just a bit more to finish, instead of using a new bobbin. I keep the bottles to put bent and broken pins and needles, but I'm going to keep them now for bobbins. Thanks Rita.
GrandmaLKB
I use a bobbin box like the one shown above.........also leave them in the nice plastic box with lid that they come in from Superior. Also like the idea of using a thread box with spindles to stack them on. That would work great too.
