Tall people with George.

To See what I am doing I need to drop my chair down so I can see without hurting my neck.  When I do that I am not ergonomically correct..  If I sit correctly, the machine blocks my view.

 

Have George up as high as he can go on the table Any ideas how I can see the quilt better?

Have you tried bolting a 4 x 4 or some kind of riser unerneath the frame. I know to raise my friends sewing table her husband built a support under it and raised it the necessary height. That would be one fix.

I don't have a George, but maybe you could try raising him by placing wooden blocks or bed risers under the legs. You would have to make sure he is security stabilized. I have done this before when a table was too low. Good luck!

I second or third the opinions listed above.  Being above average height can be a real challenge sometimes, but what else can we do?

The ideas above sound like that is about the only choice you have to get things at the right level. 

 

Since I have the opposite situation, I raise my chair as high as it will go and put the foot pedal on an old slanted business footstool. 

 

Now for the humor answer that could give a different perspective:  instead of putting risers on the legs and hoping you can keep George level and stable, you could always cut a hole in the floor for you to put the chair in.    In all seriousness, I hope you find a solution that lets you work with George for good periods of time with no physical discomfort.

Hubby went out and got 4X4 and some brackets so we will see how that works.

Sue:   Just checking...you know that George's table is height adjustable, right?  Do you already have it adjusted to the tallest setting?  If so, I like the 4X4 idea.  Please let us know how it works for you.

Oh how different we are!  Last summer I ordered a refurbished Freedom with a new table and had them shorten the legs so I could reach across the sewing area.  ;It is still not short enough!
