Enchanted Quilting Posted March 13, 2014 Report Share Posted March 13, 2014 This was an orphaned project by a customer. All of a sudden she was committed to getting it finished. As you can see in the before picture there were waves and serious cupping. You can't see it, but there was also a slash almost dead center of the piece...hence the center design. I used bottomline thread and really quilted the snot out of it to get it to lay flat. The center was determined by two things...the slash in the silk and the faux trapunto look she wanted. By echoing the roses, and then having the center quite dense, the feathers popped for her. The exterior was still very wavy by the time I had echoed around the embroidered roses, so I knew it had to be quite small to nail it down.
