pumpkinpatchquilter
Anyone have any Renae Haddadin's arc ruler sets? I follow Jenny Pedigo's sites (jennysdoodlingneedle.blogspot.com and sew kind of wonderful) and she shared how she uses Renae's 12/13" arc for some of her quilting designs. I am itching to experiment so I ordered the single arc last night and am so excited about it and all the fun ideas I have for quilting with it. I am wondering if the other sets are worth getting too? The site is a little confusing though - do the sets come in different lengths or varying arcs? If you have them do you use them a lot or do you use only one more than the others? Just curious! Thanks!
Quilting Heidi
Valarie, I have her arcs prior to them having the 1/4" markings. I think they are very much like Deloa boomerangs or Lisa Calle's new archs. I use my boomerangs all the time and just purchased the little ones from Lisa because Deloa doesn't carry anything smaller than 6". Renae's arcs were originally designed to do a continuous circle to go with her ray tool. I love her ray tool and if you are going to do some kind of medallion style design they are well worth the money. Even Renae will tell you to buy the arcs that you need when you need them. K. Szymaszek
I really like Jenny Pedigo's quilting also and was wondering about the arcs. On my list. K
Busy Quilting
I have Renee's arcs sets. Find I use the 12" the most. Would love them more if they were longer in length and had the same size arc on both sides of the arc. The 12" arc is on the inside curve, the 13" arc is on the outside curve so you cannot go around a square using the inside and outside of the arc! They are also only 10" long so need to be moved to stitch a 12 " block. I'd love to find a manufacturer to make me a 15" arc ruler and S curve. lisae
Lyn have you tried Ronda's crescent moon rulers and S-curve rulers from Quilters Rule? Maybe more arc than you want, but I really like them. I have two sets of Renae's rulers but very rarely use them. http://www.quiltersrule.com/Templates/rondas-rulers.html
Gamache
When I need a specific ruler shape for a quilt, I make a pattern and take it to the local glass shop. They are happy to cut one for me out of acrylic. I also have read that Deep Blue will custom make templates for quilters.
Busy Quilting
I have Rhonda's Double S-curves and Crescent moons. Also have all Lisa Calles's proline rulers. The curves are still too deep for what I want to use them for.... I am the ruler queen! I have my templates drawn up in 8, 12, 15 and 18" just need to take them and get them cut. Would save me drawing them each time I want to use it. I might just have to make that a pre winter task.
shirleyl
Lyn go to a glass or windshield repair place and tell them what thickness of plexiglass you want give them your template and they will cut it. Shirley
dkj17033
What are the best rulers to start with? For curves and for circles? Thanks Debbie
Quilting Heidi
Debbie my hands down most used rulers are Deloa Jone's rulers. I love the Little one for SID and straight line work, the Castle ruler is also well used. For curves her boomerangs are the best. I would recommend the 8", 10" and 12". Out of all the rulers I have these 5 I would not part with.
fotch
Has anyone tried any of Teryl Loy's rulers? She's an Innova dealer that has developed a line of rulers/templates that are 3/8" thick w/ a beveled edge to prevent chipping if hit with the hopping foot. www.terylloy.com/video.htm Out of curiosity, why did Off the Edge Quilting stop offering one of the most popular SID rulers I've ever read about? Better yet, why hasn't anyone taken over OTE's product line? Happy Easter everyone!

I think it is either the 3 x 6 or the 4 x 8. I really like that my hopping foot seems a little more "protected" when using this ruler as the ruler is thicker in height than the usual 1/4 inch rulers, but the ruler is heavier and a little harder for my hands to handle. I have some hand problems (joints and tendons) so this may be part of the reason it is harder for me to handle.
