Stitch Regulator Problems

I have a 2010 Lenni that is having a problem. It will not stop with the needle up. It all started with a quilting project this morning. I was stitching happily using the stitch regulator and then the machine seemed to hesitate and stitch a big stitch or two. I turned it off and on and luckily was able to finish my project even though it continued to hesitate on occasion. I was able to finish by doing a combination of manual and stitch regulated stitching.

Then, I got busy and did the WD 40 , oiling and blowing air etc. maintenance on the machine thinking that perhaps that would do the trick. I paid special attention to cleaning the rails and wheels too. No luck. Once I finished the oiling etc. , I turned everything on again and now the machine will not come to a stop with the needle in the raised position.

I tried turning the number 8 screw and that causes the needle to cycle slowly or quickly but always with the needle stopping in the down position.

Does anyone have any ideas about why this is happening? I love my Lenni and it has always performed well for me before.

Now no matter whether the machine is in manual or stitch regulated mode, the machine will not stop with the needle up. I have to manually raise the needle with the flywheel. The machine's green button turns the stitching on and off but the white button does not perform as it should.

I don't know if I am explaining this well. Here's hoping someone has some idea what is happening.

I am not familiar with the controls on the Lenni but I think you should have a needle up/down button you press twice to make a complete single stitch.  Press it once to get the needle to stay up.  If that doesn't work you will probably have to call the factory on Monday.

Charmaine, you will have to contact APQS service for your fix, but you can shortcut the process by sending them an email with your symptoms. Be sure to mark it high priority - you should get faster service that way.

The same problems occur on both sides of the machine.... front and back so it must be in the inner workings and not the handles.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions to try to pinpoint the problem.

People on this forum are always so helpful. Even though I will have to wait until Monday to contact APQS, I have your input to keep me going. I appreciate it!

If you are having trouble with needle up/down, you prob need a new circuit board. Does the light at the top, 4th from the left come on when you are trying to go up or down? Mine wouldn't stay in needle down and that is what they asked me. New board costs around $60 and was super easy to install. Good luck!

I do not know which lights you are referring to. Do you have to open up something to see lights? I have a 2010 Lenni and perhaps you have a more updated version with lights? The only lights I have are the laser light and the LED lights shining down on the needle area.

The needle up and needle down function is definitely not working so perhaps the circuit board is the answer.

I watched the video about changing the encoder wheels and perhaps that might be needed too? Who knows?

I will call APQS for advice tomorrow.

From the description of your trouble, it sounds like the "Needle Up" sensor on your Lenni circuit board has failed. That's why the machine is ignoring that position. The good news is that replacing that board is simple to do! Call us tomorrow and ask for the Service team. We'll double-check your symptoms but will most likely send you a replacement board, and then we'll have you return this one to the factory. On Mondays, your best bet is to call after 10 a.m. central time--the first couple hours of the day on Mondays get pretty crazy with emails and calls from the weekend, and we'll be able to help you much faster if we make it through that rush first. :)

Lenni is all better. I installed the new circuit board and the cables for the encoders and I am up and running!

What a great team APQS has and the forum members are super helpful too!!!
