Butterfly
I have a super large batik quilt with a batik backing to put on the frame soon. I am going to do a freehand overall design all over it. Here's my question....What batting should I use? I was thinking QD wool because I want some dimension but I'm second guessing because I'm afraid it might end up too puffy. Then I was thinking maybe poly delux. Basically, I want some dimension to the quilting because batik on front and back tends to look flat with my normal QD cotton select. But I also don't want it too lofty or too heavy. What do you think? Jess
ffq-lar
I would recommend your first choice of wool. It's so great for stitch definition and much lighter in weight than cotton or blends. I think the high thread count and usually hard finish of most batiks will keep it from being too puffy.

Butterfly
Sorry Sylvia. I just went in and deleted everything. I guess I need to pay attention a bit more
Busy Quilting
I use a Wool 60% Poly 40% mix preferentially for all my quilts and only have that in stock so if I provide batting for customers that is what they get. Light , not too puffy and it quilts up beautifully.
Primitive1
I am paying attention to this thread as I made my own King size batik quilt for my own bed and am ready to quilt it when my machine comes back from it's spa treatment...I too was thinking wool would make it lighter as it is so big and heavy already...
