chickenscratch
I took the car to Walmart to have the oil changed .They told me it would take and hour and a half, so I went wandering around the store. I happened to go out to the Christmas decorations section and I found something awesome. With the spray on fake snow they have some snowflake stencils. It is about 18 inches long and has 7 snowflakes in a row, in different sizes. I know it is meant for Christmas decorations, but I just decided it is a quilting stencil. The best part was the price- ONE DOLLAR!! To all of you that are going to rush out and buy one now- you're welcome!

GMALKB
The crafty/paint section of Wal Mart and places like that are good sources for stencils........I don't use them often, but they will work !
Primitive1
Great idea, some of those out of the box ideas turn out to be the best ones! I'll have to check those out - nice to have stencils that not everyone else in the local long arm community are using....
Lynne in Iowa
While you are there (especially at the after Christmas sales) pick up the "snow blanket" stuff that is supposed to be for decorating. It works great as practice batting. Cheap, just pennies after Christmas. I admit I've even used it for seasonal table toppers because it lays nice. I've tried washing it and it hasn't had a problem. I wonder what else we can find in the Christmas aisle!
chickenscratch
I am waiting for the cookie cutters to go on clearance. They make great quilting designs. Just trace around them onto freezer paper, tack the freezer paper to the quilt top using a warm iron, stitch the designs with some loops and swirls in between, then remove the freezer paper.
