Busy Quilting
I had an intermittent problem with some of my Glide threads spooling off the bottom of the cone and then snagging. Thread nets helped but the same cone would not necessarily have the problem next time I used it. Since I use the vertical spool holders one day I watched the thread as I stitched - boring easy overall pattern- I could see the cone wobbling on the holder and then the thread would spool. I cut a piece of heavy foam insulation board and jammed it on the vertical cone holder pin. Now the cone does not wobble. Made sure the upper eye of the thread path directly over the centre of the cone. Now NO Spooling. So maybe the thread spools when it doesn't feed directly over the top of the cone. Something to think about for those of you using slippery thread.
dancing bear
can you provide a picture of this? Thanks!
RitaR
I take a couple layers of batting, 2 of fluffy, 3 of WnN. Hold in place on top of pin, and push the thread down on it. Holds it nice and firm and can use thread with about any size hole.
LindaSteller
Do you have a longer pin on the cone-holder than usual on your machine? All of my cones sit flat on the cone holder with no wobbling. I've never had that problem. Sounds like you came up with a really good solution, though. Good for you!
