Busy Quilting
Can someone please tell me from where this screw has come from. I would say towards the front of the machine. Top is a 5/32 allen key. Bottom has an edge like a locking nut. Machine is a 2013 Millenium on Bliss. On a plus side my tension is now perfect without it on the machine! barbm
It could be the Allen screw that holds the tension assembly in place. I don't have documentation in front of me that says what size that screw should be. It may be that your tension assembly was too tight against the side of the head, which would cause your check spring to bind, but with the screw gone, the assembly is in a better position. I'm trying to think of somewhere else that screw could come from...
barbm
My hubby suggested maybe from the two-part hopping foot?
Busy Quilting
A lot larger than either of those Barb, Can you check if there is a screw under the handles in line with the hopping foot and close to the LED lights. That appears to be the only hole I can see?
barbm
I will look, Lyn, but I don't think so?
barbm
Maybe that screw holds the "shepherd's crook" thread guide in place, the guide that is just after the tension assembly.
Beachside Quilter
Lyn, do you have overhead light kit? That is the type of connector used to connect the OH pipes.
GMALKB
Look on the bright side...........it's not YOU with the screw loose !!! Sorry couldn't resist..............

Busy Quilting
I was going to give this the topic "screw Loose" as it did give me a laugh.
DawnCavanaugh
Lyn, the set screw that holds the tension assembly firmly in place is a 5/64, so that is not from that location. But just in case someone else is reading this and wondering about where that tension assembly allen set screw would be, I've attached a document to help. Tension Control info.doc The hook shaft collar has a locking allen screw, but it's a 3/32, so that's not it, either. Hook Shaft Collar adjust.pdf But Vicki is right--the overhead lighting sections are held together by a set screw that size, and (depending on your model) the motorized fabric advance also uses set screws of that type on the coupler(s). It's doubtful that it's from the shepherd's hook, since that screw is only accessed by removing the lighting circuit board and mounting bracket. Busy Quilting
Dawn, I don't have overhead lighting. It was found at the opposite end of the table to my fabric advance, looks like it could be from there as I have two different screws in that! Just don't have the strength to undo my husbands tightening of these to check. Maybe it has been playing hide and seek for two years. But the tension is great and the machine is working. Sharond
Barb mentioned the 2 screw hopping foot, just wondering if you checked that out. I looked at mine yesterday, and it has 2 screws. If it is from the hopping foot, I would think the foot would be a little loose.
Sheagatzi
is it the screw from one of your rollers? there is a little donut style thing that goes at the end of your rollers that uses a screw like that and you have to tighten them once in awhile otherwise they pop out
barbm
Hmmmm, the allen screw from the spacers on the rollers - that could be it! A lot of machines ship without those allen screws in the spacers, but some still have them, even though they don't DO anything. Could that be it, Lyn? Busy Quilting
Barb you've got it.. Front Roller the other three are still intact. Strange how the tension improved, or was that purely with the colour change of the thread from dark to light
barbm
Any changes to the spacer on the roller couldn't have affected your tension, so it must have been the change in thread. Glad you finally figured it out, Lyn! And actually, it was "newbie longarm rebel" Andrea who figured it out!
