Joyce's Civil War Repro Quilt - Custom Quilted

Recommended Posts

I was honored to be asked by fellow board member Joyce Coburn to quilt her lovely quilt made of reproduction civil war fabrics.  This top was absolutely stunning before quilting...I hope that I did her beautiful piecework justice!   :)  I cannot tell you how scary it is to quilt for another long arm quilter...but I really adore how it turned out...and I think she does too!

How do I name such a beautiful quilt? Any ideas would be welcome.  My quilt story is:  I got my small block designs on a vacation to a family reunion, the background fabrics were a birthday FQ exchange in my quilt group and my setting design was a facebook free pattern.

I worked on it a couple years to get it just right.  I had it hanging  months before I decided to see if  Valerie Smith would quilt it.  I am very pleased with the end result.  I will lable it as a wedding gift to my 10 year old grandson.  That gives me lots of time to enjoy it.

I am  out of likes - but thank you all for the positive comments. I love that Joyce is giving this as a gift to her Grandson - and I love her idea more of having it around for a few years to enjoy!!  :)  It was an absolute honor to be a part of this quilts history.  I know Joyce is quite talented in her own rite, so it really meant a lot to me to work on this for her.  :)

Sue (in Scottsdale :)  )  your comment made me smile.  :)  I am always the youngin' in the group - though I'm sprouting gray hairs that I attribute to those wonderful machine breakdowns!!  LOL  It means so much to hear such positive comments from my quilting peers - the same folks who inspired me so much to quilt!

I got a giggle out of the "fellow board member" description...I was thinking a board member of a company!! Duh me. LOL

Valerie, the quilting is beautiful, as always! And Joyce, I love those blocks!! Are they all different? The setting is just beautiful. I'm not a civil war fabric fan but quilt this has me changing my mind.
