LCQuilts
Those of you who use wool batting, it says it's washable, but says to dry flat. Have any of you put it in the dryer? What kind of results have you gotten?
dbams
I've just done it once so far, and other than a lot of lint in the lint screen, it seemed to be just fine. I do like my quilts "puckery,", and it certainly was. If you want a smooth quilt, the dryer may not be your best option.
Neher-in-law5
I have one on my queen bed right now. I have had it through the washer and the dryer without a problem. It is not densely quilted and is a king size on my queen mattress. Mine has not shrunk in the fabric or the batting. The one I made for my grandson a couple years ago has been washed multiple times and dried (potty training age) and it is still good looking. Again, I don't remember seeing any real shrinkage with it.
Quilting Heidi
I wash and dry in the dryer with no problems at all.
LisaC
Me too, I just don't dry any of my quilts totally in the dryer; I take them out while barely damp and lay them flat. Some cotton battings have more shrinkage than wool battings; the labels tell you what to expect.
ffq-lar
Drying a quilt with wool batting in the dryer works--until it doesn't. It may be a great idea until it gets over-agitated in the wash or over-dried in the dryer. Wool felts. I have a customer who learned this the hard way with a bed quilt. It's stiff and shrunken. Please follow the recommendations on the label to make sure the quilt remains a treasure and not a tragedy!
