caddyhomes
Top thread is constantly breaking and shredding, but only when I'm using the stitch regulator on my Freedom. In manual, I can sew any speed any direction - but the moment the stitch regulator is in play I get four inches of stitching. It has been a morning of frustration on a quilt that should have taken 1 hour. Any help?
caddyhomes
I answered my own question. I remember that this happens every winter in Saskatchewan. The winter air is too dry for thread made somewhere in a reasonable climate. I spray the thread cone with a mist of water every time I finish a swath on the quilt, and everything is working just fine. Dried thread! Who knew? Sheagatzi
What kind of thread are you using?

Sheagatzi
Hmm... I use glide a lot and I'm in Calgary and haven't had the problem. Good tip though, I wonder if 'sewers aid' would be a similar effect for you?
Corey
Last week I used sewers aid on variegated so finencone that kept on breaking & it worked. Was an older cone that I don't usually use.
