LibbyG
I deleted this so I don't run out of picture space. Thanks for the help.
Ann Wight
Here's an idea. I did this a couple years ago in a baby quilt.
chickenscratch
Mini flames in the grass, quick and looks like grass growing. What about wavy lines in the road, instead of straight ones?
Tamarack
I just did this on a landscape quilt last week for one of the grassy areas. It is a flat meander with the odd tuft of grass. Quick and easy! Edited to add that I thought I had posted this answer already but that it disappeared so rewrote it...then I realized I answered this over at MQR! dlnewell
I've done up and down zig-zags for grass. Don't have a pic handy, but if I find one I'll try to post.
Quilting Heidi
Ferny meander for the grass or something like Kathy Schwartz posted above. I'd do straight lines for the road.
Sheri Butler
If you don't want to do ruler work, chalk off the road into squares. divide road in half lengthwise, then like whatever you decide, every inch, lets say draw your block. Now quilt in one square, top left to top right, curve down, quilt straight left, curve down, quilt straight right, etc. Then in the block next to it, do the same thing but make your lines vertical. It will appear as if your road is bricked. AND it is continuous line the whole way down the road!!!
