Dreamer
This is the first quilt I have posted. I unfortunately do not have much time to quilt on my 2005 Millie. Work and other things get in the way! I have always used Warm and White batting because it is readily available. Often depending on how heavy I quilt it, the quilt looks aged some after washing it. This is probably the first time I was not happy with the results after it was washed. I think it is just the areas that are not as heavily quilted. What kind of batting does everyone else use? Thank you! Lou Ann
Mercedes
I love this! I like the aged look you get after it's washed and it compliments the design of the quilt.
dramaqueenB
I think it's adorable!! And I also like the vintage look. I use the same brand for exactly that reason. Although I'm new with my Millie, I have years on a mid arm, and have some success when I don't want a quilt to shrink as much with a quality polyester blend like Hobbs 80/20. (20% poly) JoAnn's sometimes carries it if you don't shop online. I would get a higher poly blend or maybe some of the new blends (bamboo, wool, tencel) that include poly. Or I might just put a little more quilting in the less dense areas... Whatever way you go...for now, this is absolutely adorable. great job!!! Cagey
I think it looks wonderful. I can only suggest you; all of us for that fact, take the time to watch Angela's Blog post from this years QuiltCon, and then heed her words. http://www.quiltingismytherapy.com/2015/02/25/three-things-machine-quilters-shouldnt/ Cagey
Dreamer
Thank you! Angela' s blog is very interesting and true! We are hardest on ourself it seems! I am going to experiment with some of the other battings like Hobb's and Quilters Dream and see which one I like with my quilting style! Thanks again! Sue E.
The quilt is adorable and your quilting is great. I use either Warm & White or Hobbs 80/20. I only quilt for myself and I use whatever I have readily available.
Corey
Your quilt is adorable. When I quilt wallhangings, I use warm & natural or white for stability and add a layer of quilters dream wool on top, for definition & sometimes trapunto like effect, I do splice the wool to make it thinner. Some say that wallhangings will sag over time without stable batting, I agree.
