Coleen Posted May 3, 2015 Report Share Posted May 3, 2015 New lucy operator....did a whole row across quilt already.....then thread broke....put needle in backwards.....broke needle.....new needle .....thread breaks after an inch of sewing.....sounds rough when it sews as well.....size 18 needle that comes with machine and 100 weight invisifill thread......this is my second quilt.....on my new machine. Retreaded all, tried different bobbin, put sleeve on thread. Any suggestions .....thanks Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

sewingpup Posted May 3, 2015 Report Share Posted May 3, 2015 Size 18 needle? Is that the same as a 3.5 or a 4.0 needle? I use a 4.0 needle for most quilting....did you get the Lucey used or new...is there a CD that came with it? I needed to look at the CD to make sure that I had it threaded right.....I did have a lot of thread breaks at first so decided to stick with OMNI 40 weight poly thread for the first few quilts while I got familiar with the machine....I haven't knocked the timing off yet....but have broken a few needles......hope you figure it out.....Lin Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

For APQS they need to be 134MR 1955MR 134SAN11 DPX5 MR Nm110/18 4.0 - this last one changes if you are using smaller needles etc. but with APQS machines we usually say 3.5 or 4.0 needles size Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
