The new location for MQS was great for us in Iowa! It was also nice to have the local guild (Eastern Iowa Heirloom Quilters) had a beautiful show there too. Nice mix of vendors and quilts. Classes were great! Chatted with some forum members, too!

I took a quilt top my 86 year old father made and I am supposed to quilt! Yikes! I can't complain too much because I bought the pattern for him from an Iowa designer friend of mine. I just couldn't figure out how to quilt it! He told me I had it for 3 years.

MQS had a class with lunch included called "Fresh Ideas Live!" 3 teachers, Jodi Robinson (modern quilting), Claudia Pfeil (over the top enthusiasm), and Eva Birch (more traditional) gave us ideas on how to quilt our tops. They put clear plastic over the top and drew on it so we could take the designs home. It was very fun to see the different ideas flow and sometimes conflict,post-6134-0-43821500-1432511926_thumb.jpg

Local guild had a beautiful show..2 rooms worth of quilts..wow...

Quilts in the main room for the challenge were inspirational...but...I was a little disappointed in the types of vendors.  All the other showcases had more booths available for the machine quilters..patterns, stencils, etc.  lots of quilting machine brands were represented, but I thought there were to many quilt stores for their patterns and fabrics. I felt that a machine quilters showcase should be more about the machine quilters.

I stayed only one afternoon as compared to before I would stay 2 days.
