mona
I have a George that was retimed for Schmetz needles. I recently ordered Schmetz Canu 20:05, 134 ® needles from Ed Raichert, but was sent Schmetz Canu 20:05, 134 (SES) needles. Cruising the internet I found that ® is the standard round point needle & SES is a lite ball point needle. Don't know why they changed the order, but will be calling them next week. Was wondering if this happened to anyone else & has anyone tried the SES needles?
zeke
APQS are meant to have Singers in them. The MR4 is all I ever use. It's been this way since I started quilting in 1994. Even in those crazy short arms I owned. Zeke.
jimerickson
I don't know about the Schmetz needles. I do know that the most common MR san 11 needles are the modified ball points like the SES's you reference. So, if the needles meet the other requirements, don't concern yourself about the points. mona
Thanks for your answers. They were very helpful. Think I will be returning the SES Needles.
brendasr8
Mona, I wonder what Ed Raichert would say about the needles. My George is also timed to Schmetz and almost all of the needles I have are SES. You might consider calling them and asking about the difference before you send them back. brendasr8
I wrote an e-mail to Ed Raichert and received the following reply: Both needles are for your machine. There is a slight difference in the tip of the needle. The R is for regular. The SES is a little less sharp of a tip that is to help prevent fabric cuts. The SES is far from being a ball tip and is what we have been recommending for most materials.
mona
Thank you for contacting Ed & finding out the difference in the needles. Maybe I will try these first & and reconsider returning them.
