Primitive1 Posted June 12, 2015 Report Share Posted June 12, 2015 I am beginning to work on a new quilt that has blocks divided by this embroidery stitch...not sure if I should just outline inside each block and then do the background fill or just fill right up to the stitches....if I do the 2nd idea, then I need to stabilize and wonder how it would look if I just ran a SID down through the centers of these red embroidery stitches...I am using clear monopoly to outline and stabilize and a white thread to do the background work... any ideas? I used white thread, but invisible would give the same effect. Busy Quilting Posted June 12, 2015 Report Share Posted June 12, 2015 I'd stitch 1/4" outside herringbone with a double line to frame. is it possible to make it a diamond frame in at corners out 1' or so at middle points then back into corners so that all the herringbone would become a star feature or sashing. I was already leaning toward outlining the stitch but wondered if anyone had done it the other way and how it looked...but after seeing this and hearing everyone's input - outline it is! In quilting each block, I did quilt into the embroidery, but not onto the embroidery on the seams. Attached is a picture of one of the blocks. My customer loved it......! ok....can't figure out how to add a picture from my computer - the above link seems to be for a url....I may start a new thread since that has the link for pics....
