Top thread breaking only left to right!

Recommended Posts

I spent an hour last reading thru all of the posts on thread breakage, but I did not see anything about thread breaking only left to right.

I have checked everything I can think of, I have a new needle, cleaned, oiled, rechecked and double checked!! I can quilt top to bottom, bottom to top, swirls any thing but left to right.

Any ideas??? There doesn't  seem to be a pattern of breakage, and of course I have something on the machine that I have a deadline for!!!

I do not have a another cone of this thread, and I do not have any Sewers Aid, which I might get anyway!

Thanks in advance for any help :)

Hi,

I have had problems with my thread breaking gong from right to left....it was when I was doing  simple "wavy" lines across the entire quilt...so I just tied off at the end and moved back to the left side to make the next line.  I think it has something to do with the orientation of the needle opening and the way the bobbin rotates....and If I was more experienced, I might have been able to figure it out and make the adjustments...but I couldn't figure it out at the time and just did this simple fix way of finishing the quilt, hopefully more experienced folks will chime in shortly.  Lin

Thank you LeeAnn for the suggestion!!! I would have not guessed that was the issue, but after a slight turn to the left of the needle, I only had one breakage after 5 passes on the quilt.

Hopefully now I can get this done!

I have to admit I have never really had any issues with tension or thread before, so not being able to figure it out was a bit frustrating!!!

So glad I decided to post the question, thank again!!! :)  :)  :)
