T Row Studio Posted June 21, 2016 Report Share Posted June 21, 2016 I attended our guild retreat this week-end and showed the ladies how to Ice Dye this is what they created.We had so much fun .I took my piece and quilted it. I extended the design elements of the ice dyed piece into the large borders. I used the new superior thread Omni Varigated thread called Harlequin. the runner started out 14" x 56" now with the shirt weight denim borders it is 48" x 77" I will be able to use it as a summer throw or a table cloth for our large table and enjoy it. Next time a class is available I am jumping right in! The dyed pieces are beautiful and the quilting is outstanding! I want to do it and quilt one! Thanks for the pictures. I am wanting to dye a Mandala to quilt just practicing my dyeing technique before tackling a big piece. I am having a lot of fun dyeing and quilting some of the pieces. I just used purple and robins egg blue and the purple was red violet and isn't nearly as pretty as we hoped for and wanted. it will still be used and enjoyed. The gals did a wonderful job and they all are beautiful. Your quilt is quite pretty! Love the way you used the design to quilt the circle design into the blue. Lay the fabric down find the center on one side, now mark 10" in from the ends on the other side. grab those three points and twist them all together now you have 1 cone shape you could tie it but i just lay it in a circle and cover with ice and dye. Right now the house Has to Take TOP priority, as we are under a time constraint. To verify, First I ay it out.. flat? find the center, then on one end take it up 10 inches from the end, and on the other do the same, or do I find the half way from the center and the end? Yes you were right the way you said it the first time. if you look at the piece I made the points I grabbed are the center of the half circle designs. there is one point on one side and two points on the other side then twist all three together.
