Website or blog

Recommended Posts

Hi Karen. This decision was easy for me: Blog. Websites cost money, and blogs are free. It was a no-brainer. A blog does require regular (for me monthly) communication via blog post, but it keeps my followers up to date with what's going on in the studio and what I'm learning with my own piecing. You can even have static pages that can be referenced for the information you would want on a website. Feel free to take a look: http://quiltniques.blogspot.com/

I have both... the blog is part of my website and not hosted on a free platform. I have been writing a personal sewing blog for almost ten years (on Blogger), and I wanted something a little more professional for my business. Yes, it costs a little extra to have a domain name and server space but for me it's worth it. My website is Wordpress based, and there is a learning curve compared to Blogger but it is much more flexible once you know your way around. Luckily I have a geeky computer kid at home that I can ask when I run into problems.

Feel free to look around at http://pumpkinpatchbc.com/

You can also message me if you are looking for more details about the cost, domain names, hosting companies etc. It took me a while to figure this all out, and I would be happy to pass on the information.
