    ISO Edge to edge/pantos

Good morning, I long ago let all of my long arm supplies go. I could use some things to get back into the swing of it. I have no, none, nada pantos. If you have some that you are not using and want to sell or give them away, please let me know. I am looking for a base expander for my Lucey. The one for the Freedom w/o thread cutter works for Lucey also. I still have the M&M wheels for the Freedom for sale at $200.00 Wow, it feels so good to be back. I have been piecing tops and getting ready for her arrival. Not sure I like this new forum format as it is hard to find my friends. And topics. Oh well, new and improved, right?

This is a huge quilt made by another friend of mine that passed away last year. She let me quilt on her longarm for a year before I got my Millie. I used Randy Brunette's panto Island Paradise from Digi-tech RBPANTO021. Magnifico threach on top color 2066 and cream Filtec on the back. Took 45 minutes per row with Quilt Path. I thinks her daughter will love it and it will a special Christmas. 20141116_195850 by delld1964, on Flickr Click on the picture and you will go to flickr and see more pics!!! Thanks for looking.

    Soft n Crafty 80/20 batting

I've used it several times with good luck. The 3/4 inch loft has great definition. No thin and thick spots. Sewed well. JoAnn's carries several different Soft and Crafty 80/20 in a few different lofts. One is in a yellow package and one is sort of a peach color and I believe it is numbered 4. I just make sure it has the thicker loft I'm looking for.

Thanks for the advice, ladies! I'm doing this as a favor, since the maker's son and DIL are good friends, and the recipient is an honorary niece. I wasn't sure about the batting, and am glad I checked here first. Since it hasn't been unrolled yet, I think I will put the batting back in the bag and get some of the Mountain Mist you recommended for T-shirt quilts, Linda. I can tell the maker that it is not a good batting for my machine. This was her first T-shirt quilt, I don't think she does a lot of other quilts, based on the construction of this one. However, she is a very nice person, and I want to give her the best product I can. It's going to be a bigger challenge than I expected, though.

If it doesn't have a scrim or chemical bonding, it'll be a nightmare in any size larger than a crib. As Teresa shared, it doesn't look like a good one for machine quilting. The "preferred by hand quilters " is usually a red flag for machiners. Your customer won't be able to return it to Joanns if the package has been opened, so have a talk and see if she can decide on something else. There was a long thread about batting for T-shirt quilts recently, if you need some suggestions.

    NQR - I'm still here

Right, Sylvia?!? But I'm okay with going back to the OR, feeling very relaxed about it, so no worries. Like you, I'm not great at being a patient, not much experience in that department. I am good at nursing others back to health. It must be a woman thing. Oma, I had a female anesthesiologist (Go, Girl Power LOL). The times of males being dominant in the field are quickly adjusting to evening out a little. I don't mind male docs though. My OB/GYN is male ... I actually kind of prefer male doctors. Not sure why. I went to the doctor yesterday and they switched one of my meds. OMGOSH I started feeling much better late last and no more headache. What a relief.

The first quilt I made was a Trip Around the World by Eleanor Burns. I have the book (rather old now). There are directions for all sizes in her book - Baby, Lap, Twin, Double, Queen, California King and Dual King. Her directions are written so they are easily to understand and with good graphics. Debbie, there's a PDF file at http://www.delawarequilts.com/Projects/Yearly/TripAroundTheWorld.pdf that you may find helpful. Her's is based on 2" inch strips, so if you do a little math and eliminate a row, two, or three, you could easily make the size you need. I hope this helps, and have fun with the Trip Around the World! I love the way those quilts look on the bed!!! EDITED TO SAY: While I was typing, I got distracted and you got other great responses! I have a smaller block version Bonnie Hunter's (posted elsewhere on her blog) in the works and one day I may actually finish it. LOL

I used it ONCE. It had some very thin areas and some very thick, gloppy areas. It stretched and ripped easily. I would never use it again. I told my customer I won't use it again.

    Magnetic Bobbins

Mary If you have a towa guage set it the same. If not I don't think the drop test works (well it doesn't for me), I would suggest loading some practice fabric and test stitch with a regular bobbin until your tension is perfect. Then take a second bobbin case, remove the backlash spring and insert your magnetic bobbin. Test stitch again but only adjust the bobbin tension until it is perfect again. Now that bobbin case is set for magnetic bobbins and shouldn't need adjusting again. I think a lot of people get a feel for the tension just by pulling on the thread. We really like the magnetic bobbins but still wind a lot as well. Nigel

I think its so inconsiderate of the medical profession to tell us well just relax and try to get the blood pressure down. Right let me just do that right now!!! I layed in hospital with a migraine for 3 days until the neurologist came in and said hey this lady is a coffee drinker have you given her coffee since shes been in here their answer "no we didn't think that would make a difference. A few hours later headache gone and surgery was back on. Bonnie hope things go better for you soon.

You and your wife are going to love your Studio Cutter. You definitely made the right decision. I found the table for mine cheaper than at AccuQuilt. Almost 50% cheaper and it's a great cabinet. You have to have the space for it though. Remember that they will also make custom dies and they offer a discount at times on those too.

I also use the post for scissors, or as others have commented, sometimes for a smallish ruler, that has a hole in it. I use a piece of batting to catch thread ends, and to "sweep" them off the quilt, or use hemostat gloves for both. Also when I wear a cotton top, or a sweater, I slap the threads onto my left shoulder.. when densly populated, LOL, they gather right up and it takes very little work to clean that area off.

I love this quilt and actually made one myself a few years ago! I see the piecer of this one had a bit of a problem in her outer borders, the centers of each border. I did, too! Must have been the instructions and not just me. I love What you did with the quilting on your customer's!
