pumpkinpatchquilter got a reaction from quilterkp in Pretty Feathers - Just Getting Going!
Just stopping in to share some progress as I'm so pleased with this so far!  Don't you love quilts where every stitch has you thrilled and excited to move on to the next portion?

It's so quiet around here as of late, where have all my quilting pals gone?

pumpkinpatchquilter got a reaction from Leida Glez in Bordercreek Mystery Quilt - Pebbled, feathered, and cross hatched :)
Just finished my client Jane's quilt - she wanted feathers and curved cross hatch on her quilt!    I think I may have another of these coming my way next year so I'm already trying to think up something different!

This quilt is 100" x 100" and I used Bottom Line thread in both the top and bobbin...one layer of Wool (Hobbs Tuscany) was provided by the client.

pumpkinpatchquilter got a reaction from AnnP in Beginner- Lennie or Lucey ?
I always kind of thought the Lucey was the bare bones of anything you could ever want in a machine.  It's affordable but has all the most important features (in my humble opinion) to make it  a machine you can use for a very very long without upgrading...if it's the only machine you ever have I think you'd be very happy.    Just my two cents.

pumpkinpatchquilter got a reaction from Kani in Feathers - Curved Cross Hatch - Lone Star Wall Hanging
This was a quick small custom I squeezed in for an online quilting friend Wanda - it is going into her guild show next April!    I had a lot of fun playing with this - you all know how much I LOVE negative space!

She provided Warm and Natural cotton batting and I used Bottom Line thread by Superior Threads.  It is my absolute favorite thread for custom quilting!  The curly swirl designs (I'm not sure what to call them!) in each of the open white corners was free hand drawn whit invisible ink and then I just free handed over what I drew and pebbled around them to give them a trapunto look.

Including a little peek at the back because I know I don't always think to show it.  I had one little hiccup I had to rip where I hit the wrong button and started stitching a million miles a second when I meant to needle down!    Pulled that out and the rest I'm really happy with!

pumpkinpatchquilter got a reaction from Kani in Bordercreek Client Quilt in Progress
It feels like I haven't posted in forever!  I think I've just been busy with the kids football and cheer leading which incidentally ended this week...so I'm back to quilting in the evenings and afternoons!  I wanted to have made a little more headway on this by now but my schedule has just been too hectic.  Trying to finish it up by this weekend...I thought this was pretty and something different!

pumpkinpatchquilter got a reaction from Leida Glez in Which Batting For A Dark Backing
I never ever had pokies in eight years of quilting until my Jared Takes a Wife quilt...I used Pellon 100% natural cotton batting.  I don't think I'll order it again either.  I'm also a fan of Quilter's Dream poly battings.  The quilting looks so great with them and I have yet to have any kind of poking or bearding.  I also like Hobbs 80/20 but Quilter's Dream is my first choice.

Who knew how fun it is to quilt your own quilt! I pieced this one over two years ago.....It is from a Judy Niemeyer pattern called Cutouts. It uses pieces cut out of another of her quilt patterns.

pumpkinpatchquilter reacted to Little House Creations in Dresden quilt
My customer made this quilt as a gift for her 2 yr old granddaughter - to be given when she turns 18!  It was so much fun to quilt - Hobbs Wool Batting; So Fine thread.  I SID all the Dresden pieces, filled with swirl hook filler, cc in sashings and made "ghost" dresdens in the large plain borders.  This was a feel good quilt - and my customer was so pleased!

pumpkinpatchquilter got a reaction from Bonnie in Ok in Ellen's Woodland Quilt
This one was a bit of a head twister to quilt.  I get a lot of quilts with copious amounts of negative space so I really had to think what would look nice on all those homespuns!  These are the style of quilts that first drew me to quilting too, so it was really fun in the end to work this one up.  Gives me ideas for a few tops in own pile...

    Valarie:

Did you use the same colored thread on both top and bottom over the entire quilt?

It sort of looks that way to me, but I wanted to ask.  I have done different colors in the top and bottom of my DSM, but not on my George as of yet.  I do not like it when the bottom thread color peeks through, and shows on the top.

Perfect quilting choices!  Sometimes simple is the best, and I'm just loving this quilt!  Quilting on the appliqué is wonderful, and, as usual, LOVE the feathers!
