dbams reacted to luluinstm in Bobbin thread won't pull up!
So it ended up being 2 things!
    1) When you take out the bobbin case, inside there the toe of the hook has to be straight up and seated in the center. There is a screw that holds it in place, which seemed a bit loose. So got it centered and tightened the screw.
    2) The hopping foot was situated too high - not sure how, when or why, but it's lowered now.
    So far, everything is AOK.  . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .For Now!
    Thanks everyone!

Please call the Service Department at Grace Co. for help on this - our machines are not that different, but there may be subtle but critical differences in the hook area. We can give you general suggestions but your machine's manufacturer is the proper source for help.

Sounds more like timing issue than tension.  Check your owners manual section on timing, and see if you can't ID, and resolve your problem.  good luck.  Jim

I finally got the hook assembly to move.  I kept wiggling the flywheel and it began to move.  A drop more oil, and it began spinning normally.  Now I can see a thread all the way in the back of my hook assembly (the bobbin is removed).  Some tweezers helped me get that out.  I will need to sew on some scraps to let the oil drips run through before continuing my quilt.  Whew!

The number one reason is the needle is in backwards.  Two would be you hit a bad seam or your ruler and the timing is off.  Third I would check the hook doesn’t have any fore and aft play, to check this take out the bobbin case put your first two fingers behind the hook and your thumb on the centre post and pull and push.  There should be no play if there is you loosen the Allen screw on the collar pull the hook forward, push the collar back and tighten the screw.
Please let us know how you make out as it may help the next person.

NEVERMIND -- I looked at the visual reference picture of boxes I received and it clearly tells me that Box 4 includes the table assembly instructions. I should have known -- and it's spiral bound to lay flat or be just one page wide while using -- smart. Thank you APQS sales and support teams. (If I figure out how, I will delete my post so as to not clutter up the forum.)

I finally get to set up my new Millie tomorrow. Yay!! I've opened the white "open me first box" and checked the contents. I had hoped to find some printed instructions in there, but, nope.
I have downloaded the 101 page manual from APQS website, and I've done a quick review to be prepared for what is needed to set up the table and install the various accessories and features. I know we're going to want -- need -- a printed hard copy in front of us while working. But I don't want to print all those pages only to discover instructions inside one of the boxes as I start unpacking things.
Can anyone tell me if our new Millies are shipped with printed instructions tucked away somewhere?

Well, I guess I've solved the "hairy, smelly quilts" issue in a way we never expected.
We have moved from Washington State to Kentucky to be closer to family.
My husband has been dealing with cancer and heart issues the past five years and we're both in our mid 70's now, so I sort of took it upon myself to begin searching for a home nearer to family who can help if needed. When he saw what I'd found in a home and the awesome price, he readily agreed to the move.  Hubby is in remission at this time and we are so very thankful for that after nearly 54 years of marriage!
Our eldest grandson helped with the long-distance inspections, etc, and we bought a house sight unseen! WHEW! It needs a few changes here and there, (and I'm sure grandson will be helping, lol), but it's a great home and we're enjoying the wonderful views of the countryside and mountains in the distance. We sold all our furniture and things that wouldn't fit into a U-Haul Pod, shipped what we coculdn't part with and hit the road in my new Kia Soul. It was a fun adventure, and we're finally settled again.
My Lenni is set up again and I'm happy as a clam to be able to work on my own quilts for now.
Many thanks for all the input on the above subject! I'll keep all the suggestions in mind, should I decide to quilt for others again.

If the side of you foot has a similar profile to this one you will be fine.  You will need an extended base if you don’t already have one.  https://shop.apqs.com/products/product-2459-18-true-1-4-inch-platform-ruler-foot-george-machines.asp

Is it just the light or the stitch regulator?  If your stitch regulator is still working, it might just be the bulb.

Use the canned/compressed air first.  Then do the WD40 "bath".  Start the machine on a slow speed then gradually increase it and spin out the excess WD40.  Shut the machine off (important!) and then wipe out the area with a clean rag.  Never try to wipe out the area while running - that's a good way to get a rag caught in the bobbin area and throw off the timing.  Lastly, oil the machine.
That is the order of the cleaning and oiling hook maintenance in the manual I have.  It doesn't say to use the compressed air AFTER the WD40.  The hook area is sealed which is why you can use compressed air.  However, I wouldn't use it after the WD40 as that's just spreading around something that will attract and hold dust and lint.

This thread from about six years ago will give you a starting point. Pay attention to the info Cagey got from APQS and their suggestions. https://forum.apqs.com/topic/41689-surge-protectors/#comment-542223. I don’t know if the factory has an up to date list of recommended units.

I don't know whether you'll get a reply or not (you might want to personal message her), but if you've found a machine you like at a price you like, I wouldn't let the table length stand in the way of a purchase.  All you need to do is find a local welder/fabricator, and follow the instructions I offered above.  I haven't had this done because I did all the work on my table myself, but I shouldn't think it would cost more than  $200 or $300.  Good luck.  Jim

dbams got a reaction from SueD in Accounting Software: Quickbooks, Machine Quilters Business Software from Eureka Documentation, or Something Else?
Dana Jo, I don't think it's really worth capitalizing a purchase under $1,000.  A collection of pantographs can add up, but on a per item basis, the cost is not much.  I am a retired CPA, and would not want to mess with piddly depreciation on items like that.  Obviously, you have to go with what's comfortable for you, and whatever your corporate return preparer recommends.
    Good luck with your business!

dbams reacted to jimerickson in Instructions for changing tension check spring
I'm not sure what you're referring to as "check springs", but guess you mean the thread take-up spring on the tension assembly.  If you remove the tension assembly and examine how it's assembled, you should get a pretty good idea how it all works.  The take-up spring is tensioned by the set screw that holds assembly to the main shaft.  Turning the assembly one direction or the other increases or decreases tension, and then setting the screw holds the desired pressure.
The disk spring tension is controlled by the tension knob that screws on the end of the main shaft.   Good luck.   Jim

    Light Bulb Moment?
I just watched this video on how to turn a quilt on the longarm. About half way through, Dawn Cavanaugh shows how to pin the elastic end of the clamp elastic to the quilt side, eliminating the bump and hangup when using the ruler base. LOVE this idea, so had to share!

I think it's probably more than a fuse.  Sounds like you jammed the machine.  Look for thread wrapped around the hook, needle tip stuck in hook, etc.

I would guess you unscrew the textured screw all the way out so the hole is open.  That hole is where you mount it on the machine shaft and then tighten that textured screw again to lock it into place.  Unscrew the large wheel to insert the laser as shown on the package - then tighten that also.  If you're still having trouble, email APQS directly using the contact us page on the main APQS website.
