  1. Is there an adjustment to the stitch length setting? Mine doesn't seem to be right.............I scroll up and down, but don't seem to get much change in length.
  2. Customer Service

I wish APQS would train more field techs to come around and service our machines............not just routine maintenance, but troubleshooting problems...........a friend just spent MONTHS dealing with her 2014 demo machine trying to get it to work right.............no one would come to her house to check it out............kept trying to 'FIX IT' by email and phone calls with no results other than more frustration for her............she was finally forced to trade it off for a brand new machine - just to get something that works............she SERIOUSLY considered buying another brand.........APQS touts their great warranty and customer service, but it seems to be lacking..............many of us are not able to man handle a machine to pack it up and send it to Carroll.........when I got my new machine a year ago, they took the box back with them. I dread the day when I might need help because it seems no one will come............with the number of machines that are sold every day and at all these Road Shows and Quilt Shows, APQS is falling down on their Customer Service after the machine is delivered.
  3. Customer Service

Actually, I don't think anyone would object to paying a service call and with warranty covering any parts needed..........They don't even seem to offer that as an option..........Many of us can't or don't wish to work on our own machines..........fearing doing something to damage the machine and ruining the warranty...........having a hard time seeing or getting into a position to do maintenance, etc.............I am 70 years old and do not wish to do it and my husband is even less enthused about it.............many of us are in the same boat.........I can clean/oil my machine and those things, but I will not get into replacing circuit boards or anything else. Lifetime Warranty should include more than just parts coming to you in the mail and a "do it yourself kit".
  4. Customer Service

Knock on wood, my machine is working OK, but dread the day when it does need something............my friend went through "H"..........she bought a demo machine, but they are supposed to be all worked over and have the warranty...........I guess if you can fix it yourself with a part they might send you, you are OK, but don't ask for anyone to come to the house...........I am VERY DISAPPOINTED in the Customer Service in that regard.......she even had trouble getting anyone to return her calls, emails, etc. .....We recently moved and they did give me the name of a man who would come move my machine, but he didn't do any maintenance............only take it down and put it back up in the new location...........and I paid him $400 to do it...........
  5. How do you quilters store your pattern boards? We are building a new home and I will have a nice quilt studio with a big closet...........looking for ideas of storing pattern boards so they are easy to see and pull out as needed..............any suggestions? Linda
  6. Another topic I'm glad to see...........I will have laminate flooring in my new sewing room...........I ordered the castors for my machine and will have them installed when the machine gets moved to the new house............I didn't think about vibration, but as mentioned, small carpet squares or maybe some of that shelf liner fabric would help.........a friend just got a new sewing room built with laminate flooring, but never said anything about vibration or the machine moving..........I have a 12' table and Millenium.
  7. Thanks.........great ideas...........think I have a plan...........I will have a nice closet in my new room and planning it with a section for the pattern boards........I hoped to store them vertically .......... looked and looked online for shelf dividers of some kind..............finally came on the idea to use spring tension curtain rods between the top and bottom of the space........they will stand vertical..........two rods about 6" apart...........then skip about 6" and two more rods, etc..........In my mind, this will work...........will see how it really works when I get to that point..........some of my boards are 28" long........more are around 24".........thinking of doing the same arrangement for my bolts of fabric..........now I have them stacked on top of each other............of course, I always want the one on the bottom............hoping to have them standing like in the fabric store.........one other nice thing about using the rods...........they are movable..........my DH liked the idea that he didn't have to use any tools to install something else !
  8. Squaring Leaders?

I have a Millenium..............can the leaders be removed from the roller bars to make attaching zippers easier?
  9. 4 Point star quilt

Gorgeous ! A very unique pattern and love your quilting.
  10. We have made the decision to sell our home and 4 acres and move to town ! We are building an "older age friendly" home that will be all on one floor..........no steps (that we have to use), wide hallways, doorways, pull bars in the bathroom, etc.............neither of us are to that point yet, but after having my Mom out and in her wheelchair, we saw the writing on the wall...........We are both 68 and time is marching on way too fast............anyway, the BEST part is I will have a 17 ' x 30' Quilting Studio ! Everything will be in one big room with lots of storage, drawers, cabinets, cutting table, my long arm............I can't wait for that.............Been going up and down steps a lot late while sorting out closets and purging...........I will be SO GLAD to be rid of the steps............ We currently have a 120 acre farm, but will keep the farm ground and just sell off 4 acres, a couple buildings and the house............DH not quite ready to give it all up just yet, so we won't..........he can still come out and fish in the pond, putter, but he won't have 3 1/2 hours of mowing to do any more or 3 hours of pushing snow in the winter. Our lot in town is a whopping 1/2 acre ! Looking forward to having more free time to do other things.........We like to travel, so having a smaller place in town will make it easier for someone to come over and check on things when we are gone............
  11. Ordering Glide Thread

OK..........I was curious, so went on their website and added 10 small spools to my cart............got the message $50 minimum order...........I swore it was $35.00 before............$50 is better, but not great if you only want a couple things.
  12. Ordering Glide Thread

That must be something new...........I just ordered some bobbins not that long ago and it was a $35.00 minimum.
  13. Thread

I've used it in my DSM, but not my long arm.
  14. Still having problems

A friend has had an Ultimate II machine for almosst 20 years and only had the timing adjusted once.............she has quilted hundreds of quilts...........your machine definitely has problems.............Did you buy it privately from an individual? Maybe that's why THEY sold it............
  15. Newbie questions

I float my quilt tops, too.............to make sure I am getting it on straight to start, I use my horizontal/vertical lock to stitch a line across the top of the batting/backing...........then lay the quilt top on that line because I know it is straight. Usually have good luck with that..........
  16. Finished shirt quilt

Love the look............a friend of mine goes to the Thrift Store and buys men's shirts by the bag full, cuts them up to make quilts. Sometimes she will use a shirt pocket or the buttom flap........really cute. Another friend made table runners from men's shirts and used the button flap down the center..........the husband of HER friend passed away and she asked for something to be made for each of her grown kids as a remembrance............after making the table runners, there were enough scraps left to make a lap quilt for the widow as well.............love that idea.
  17. Beautiful babies...............good vibes going to you and your family for everyone concerned...............
  18. Awesome...............love it...............
  19. I try to buy local - the nearest store (and most expensive) is 15 miles away.......the best one is 30 miles............I do buy online a lot...........Fabric.com is good. Missouri Star Quilt Company is also good.
  20. I love the tutorials on the APQS website, but wish they would be available on a DVD or wish we could download them to a DVD ourselves...............unless you have a computer near the long arm (which I don't), it is difficult to watch these on the computer and then try to remember the method when I get to the long arm..............Any suggestions?
  21. Glide magna bobbins

i've used them almost exclusivly on two different Milleniums and not trouble at all ..............The Magna Glide Classic holds the most thread...........the
  22. APQS Video Tutorials

You got that right.............I'll wait until our 7 year old grandson comes..........haha Many times, I've searched on the internet or looked up information............checked the box "I do not want emails" and promptly get 10 a day...........I send them to junk. NO MORE PASSWORDS.........too much to remember..........taxes my brain..........Must save all my wits for quilting ! haha
