  1. My machine is less than a year old but has made this noise for a while. I thought it was just normal but a month ago my mom was here and we went long arm shopping for her. When we went to the local apqs dealer I didn't hear hers doing it. I have been troubleshooting since. Here's a fast and slower video (just changed the machine not video speed - both are with sr off). both videos are unlisted but you should be able to view with the link what I've noted so far - When I oil the bobbin area it goes away for 5 minutes things with no effect - i have changed needles multiple times - i have used different threads - i have used different bobbins (manga glide, super bob, self wound) and different bobbin cases - I checked and cleaned the top of the machine (inside left panel) - my wicks are all properly oiled all the time i oil every bobbin change and lately more often, especially this last week hubs and kids were off work/school so I would oil every time I started even though the bobbin didn't change
  2. New George

My new George arrived a few days ago and I'm in love! I can't get over the difference between quilting on this workhorse as compared to my old domestic machine. The workspace is huge and the stitches are beautiful. And as promised, George is easy to operate. No computer screens. Just a tension dial, a motor speed dial, and a needle up/down button. There is definitely a different sound to George as compared to a domestic too. I'm used to very quiet machines, and George is a little loud. But he's a big machine with a big motor, so that makes sense. I've only got a few hours on him though, so I'm wondering if he will get a little quieter as he gets broke in. Has anyone else noticed this? Will it get quieter?
  3. I'm halfway through a customer quilt without any problems and had a loud noise, almost sounded like the bobbin was spinning with every stop and every time i slowed down. There was one tangle and found a thread wrapped around the area where the bobbin case sits....hook assembly? Was able to get that one string out and continued sewing. The noise remained and the stitches always looked fine. Any ideas and is it safe to continue sewing with the noise? Thank you, Kim

  5. I have a 2012 APQS Millennium. I was working on a quilt yesterday afternoon & came across a thick seam & my needle broke. I replaced the needle (getting all the parts of the broken one), pounded the seam down & went again. Then the machine made a screeching sound & became stuck. Turns out the new needle broke & came out. Now the needle bar won't even go up & down. Turned the machine off & on again. Turned on with a screeching sound that wouldn't stop. I uncapped the flywheel & manually turned it. Took out the bobbin case & all the needle parts & tried to make the needle bar go up & down w/out a needle. It won't move on it's own (just makes a screeching sound) until I help it along with the fly wheel. Now a high pitched grinding noise is also coming from the machine- does anyone have any suggestions on how to begin to fix this? Thanks!
