Karen McTavish
Many of you know that I am in a band, but my partner Dan, is also in a band called "Xhaust" (exhaust) and in a "battle of the bands" contest. This is a very big deal if they win. They are in the "on-line" voting stage. They have won all the finals and now its up to online voting. This is nation wide. Xhaust is in 5th place at this time but need hundreds of votes to win. Here's where you come in - since we need to find hun"dreads" of people - I thought this is the perfect place to start! Please click on this link and see the 5th band on the list called "XHAUST" - yes, that's Dan in the Batman outfit.... click on "VOTE" We need your help !!! GO TO: http://www.gorillamusic.com/25000-record-deal-contest-voting/ Please help our neighborhood family rock band with their goal to get to first place!! They deserve it!! Thanks so much!! no need to register or sign up for anything - you can vote as often as you would like - once per day. one day - when Xhaust hits it big, I can stay home and he can go out on the road instead of ME!! Thanks for all your help!! She had to buy a sweatshirt, which I then stole from her and slept in it last night...dont tell her. She forgot her password to the chat...so she wont see this. Quilting Heidi
So you two did all that trash talking about leaving Michigan in the winter and you got cold? I'm freezing in NY too if it makes you feel any better and won't think about putting summer clothes on until May! Oh yeah I'm working on a wholecloth inspired by your White work book. I think it was the quilt you did for your dad. It is for my son's wedding gift. I'm really tired of marking it though! That sure takes forever! I have all the trapunto work done and almost ready to load it back up. Thanks for being such an inspiration! The least I can do is help you out with a vote or two or three...I have friends at work I'll get in on the action too!

JoleneK
"one day - when Xhaust hits it big, I can stay home and he can go out on the road instead of ME!!" Karen, the problem is we don't want you to stay home and not come out and play with us. Your classes last week were so great. I will vote anyway!
DoryJM
Well, I was all ready to vote until you said that he'd be going out on the road and you'd stay home. If that happens, how will I ever get to learn from you???? Okay, I'll vote, but its only because I learned so much from you at Innovations last year! Karen McTavish
...we thought that some of you may object - so here is my promise...I dont intend to quit teaching...I will just be able to bring a nanny (aka Sue's oldest daughter) with me on the road while my 3 year old runs the quilt show. How's that for a compromise?

Karen McTavish
So Because you have done so much for me - by voting for my Dan's Battle of the bands - I have done something for you. A little daily quilters blog - Thank you so much friends for clicking on the "vote" button. Only 800 more clicks to go!! Quilting blog from the road Quilting is Passion. If you dont have passion - you wont get anything done when it comes to quilting. For example, if you have too many ugly quilt projects that you are no longer in love with - you will have experienced "burn out". Dudes, you have all been there - let's talk about it; For example, if you have a teenager who is skipping school or a son who is playing video games 13 hours a day - you will want to quilt to escape this situation. Or if you have too many dishes, or you can't face cooking another meal for your family - you need a outlet - which, my friend - is quilting. So - too avoid household chores, - we quilt. To stay sane, we quilt - and avoid our responsibilities as good parents who have out of control children, we quilt. You will know you are burned out on quilting when you would rather scrub the floor than go applique'. You will know you are burned out on quilting, when you would rather bring your daughter to her AA meeting than quilt. Here is a list of things to do in order for you to avoid "quilters burn out": Never, I mean, ALWAYS - get obsessed with your quilt project. The quilt you are obsessed with, always gets finished. Remind yourself that if you stop working on this quilt project, it will add to the other projects that are half way done, and this one will never get done and it wont happen again! Keep your eyes on the prize - never think about how long a quilt will take to complete - stay in denial as long as possible. When you give that amazing quilt to a friend or family member, who says "Thanks for the blanket".....do not get burned out - simply use this as an excuse to cut them out of your life. Forever. They were never really part of the family anyway. When your sister, gets kicked off a plane, for not shutting off her computer upon take off, and you are now the official "good daughter" because you have never been escorted off a mid-air flight - you get to feel like a supreme being, a much better human being than say....I dont know...your sister....you can run around buying thread and fabric, knowing in your heart you deserve this - because you are after all, the better daughter. Always, I mean, NEVER, worry about how much things cost, or weather you need them or not....you will eventually need them, you just dont know it yet. When you are truly, in a burn out situation - I highly recommend a big ass pair of scissors just to cut your batting with. Having these scissors will make you feel special. And if you forget that you are special, remember, you have not been escorted off a plane by Air Marshals. And your sister has.
