ramona-quilter
I have been hanging on to this quilt top for months. I meant to take it to Myrna Ficken's Hartley Fence class in Feb to get some advice about quilting it. But I forgot the quilt at home. it. Myrna suggested one of the new HF stencils called Dervish. I sent for the converted HF stencil adaptor to go with the new Dervish. The blocks are only 6.5" but the HF is so adjustable that it was easy to adapt. I centered the dervish in each block. The first row takes a while because I had to record the location for the subsequent 7 rows. But then I flew thru the rest of it. I love my Hartley Fence. ramona-quilter
Thank you for the support. This quilt was more of a labor of learning rather than a labor of love. I wanted to try the 4-piece with 18" repeat pattern cut diagonally. Pattern: http://www.ahmercantile.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6697 It was the technique that interested me. You cut 4 pieces of fabric that look exactly the same. You stack them up, cut and stitch the 4 pieces together so it looks like a kaliedescope (sp?). It was hard to find a fabric with an 18-inch repeat. The one I used is not my kind of fabric at all. It's way too busy for me and I don't much care for any kind of metallic on my fabric. I would much prefer I nice open floral. The repeat was key to the pattern, though. I used King Tut Suez thread on the front and Bottom Line in the bobbin. The borders, including the corners, are from Chantilly Lace pattern by Norma Sharp. The inner borders and sashing were freehand. I would like to try it again but with fabric I like.
