MCramer
I bought 2 identical fabric kits-7 half yd of fabric in each to make something larger than what one kit would finish. but now I don't know how to cut the fabric so I can combine them? Kit says it would finish 48"x64". If the pic. shows you can see if I just butt them together I'll get skinny rectangles in the middle, and I don't want that. And I am challenged like MB....not a math person. I don't piece much so I sure could use some help!
peglu
From what I can see, you could just eliminate the last row of the first one and the 1st row of the second one. Does that make sense? Just take out the borders on one side of each.
MCramer
I understand what you mean but that would make it smaller, I'd like to make it as big as possible with the fabric I have. I need help figuring out how to cut, so those rectangles can be more squares like the center of the original.
Mary Beth
I just started reading my "how to" book...so I'm no help But I am anxious to see what everyone says. Good luck with this.
rlhdesigns
Mary, If you would like to email me the instructions, I would take a look at it and tell you how to do it. I can't see the instructions that will. Rebecca
Sue E.
Mary, by doing what Peg says, you will combine the two kits. When you remove the top and bottom rows and side borders, your quilt will be longer/wider depending on how you put the two kits together. Combine the border fabric from the two kits to make the border longer and wider to fit the new size. Does this make sense?
hollyc
here's my theory....keep making blocks until you run out of fabric...do it all the time....proves interesting
Georgene
Holly, That's exactly what I do too. No math, just cut and sew.
witha'K'quilting
I see what Peggy is saying and she is correct. If what you are showing is what 1 kit looks like...than 2 will double the size and will not have the little squares running through the middle of it. They will go along the outside edge as a border. I can draw it out on paper if you need me too.
