Brandy
Can anyone help me figure out how to resize a block?? I have a pattern for a 24" block and I want to make it 12". Do I just cut all of the measure ments in half, or do I cut them in half and add some for the seam allowance, or is there some special formula for figuring it out..HELP!! I am desperate and in a hurry! All of the quilt shops are closed tomorrow!!
The Crafty Unicorn
Brandy, What block are you looking to resize? If it's not super complicated, you can draw it out using a 12" block, cut the pices apart and then add seam allowance. It's the old template method, but it will give you a good set of measurements that you can then use for rotary cutting.
quiltaholi_518
You must remove the 1/4" seam allowances from the pieces, double the size and then add the 1/4" back. I hope it doesn't have triangles, they are quite a bit harder...............
dtreusch
If you have EQ5, do a new block for the size you want, draw the pattern, save it and print it. I do it all the time without having to do any complicated calcuations. I also do this with some simple quilting patterns/stencils and then use the laser. Works great. Brandy
Thank you so much everyone! I am new to this and this is great! I tried just cutting the measurements in half as I have never quilted using the template method and guess what.......it didn't work Oh well I tweaked a bit here and there and added a border and it looks OK. Not great but OK. Thank you again! Brandy
