RoseCity Quilter
When I am doing ruler work with my Milli, I am getting a very hight pitch squeek. Does not happen any other time and is getting worse. Any ideas?
shelleywa
Ardelle, it could be that you are pressing the ruler too tightly against the hopping foot. The foot should just glide along the ruler's edge. It's a balancing act to hold the ruler securely but not that tightly that it causes a squeaky noise or prevents the machine from moving smoothly. Hope that helps a bit! Shelley
RitaR
Holding the ruler too tight to the machine also can cause creases and puckers on the backing. Ritar
DawnCavanaugh
Ardelle, The girls are right about the pressure and ruler creating the squeak. To help reduce it, clean the ruler's edge thoroughly with rubbing alcohol to remove any residue. Then try treating the ruler's edge with a little bit of liquid silicone (rubbed on and wiped off with a paper towel) or a little bit of car wax. Sometimes you can even get the same result simply by rubbing a piece of waxed paper along the ruler's edge, then buffing the edge with a soft cloth.
