Farmland Quilter
A family member had a quilt done out of scraps of fabric from clothing her deceased aunt had made. It is very special to her. However, when she got it back the piecing was beautiful but the quilter had tied it with yellow yarn instead of hand quilting it as expected. We have taken it apart and I am going to add borders and quilt with a pantograph on my Mille with So Fine Thread and Dream Orient Batting. There are a variety of fabrics in the top incl some thin polyester blouse fabric. The backing is 10" strips of corduroy that were in auntie's stash. Normally I would use 3.5 needle with So Fine but should I go to a 4 with the corduroy on the back. Any other considerations I should be aware of because of the corduroy? Sandra Darlington
I really can't answer your exact question, but I can tell you that I always use a 4.0 needle and mostly use So Fine thread, so it should be just fine with the larger needle. Anette D.
Cheryl, Could you post a picture of the quilt top. I have been asked to make a top from a deceased Mom's clothing for her two daughters and one surviving sister. I haven't a clue about the design. I would appreciate some guidance. Thanks
