Carreen
I don't quilt for others so I have no idea but I want the quilt under it!! Oops, I just looked again and I guess the white is part of that one. The white is so beautiful, I thought it was different from the red and white. meg_marsh
Ok - need to remember everything supplies = $200 piecing @ $10 = $300 Quilting (13,216 sq in. x .04) = $528.24 binding (224" x $.25) = $56 total = $1084.24 which really doesn't account for any mishap which I generally have - don't ask why - just me............... I have always thought I should raise my piecing prices............. but since I am not in business and do very!!!!!! few quilts - don't want to bother and most often I charge a song and not what is listed above............ The last quilt I sold - appraised at $1600 & gave it away for just over $300 - time involved - about 45 hours. Am I cheap or what?????
Antoinette
Okay here's my guess.......$1892.50 but that doesn't include a label, so add another $15.00 for a grand total of $1907.50. I can't wait to see what the actual charge was. And since you have to give this gorgeous quilt away I think you should charge her another $500 on principle alone. doodlebug
i would charge $2250 minimum. break down: materials $200 labor $25/hr = $750 (i didn't forget cutting) quilting (all that premarking and ruller work) .06= $800 binding by hand and a show sleeve: $500 (i wouldn't bind by machine- keep it 'heirloom') i would ask for the right to enter it into some shows... can you tell i've done this before? i tell people wanting to commision a quilt start to finish: "it's cheaper if i teach you how to make your own"
Sheri Butler
This is an "educated guess" considering where you are located, etc.... $975.
Liam
Piecing - 30 hours @ $12.00/hour = $360.00 Quilting - 118" x 112" = 13216" @ $.03/" = $396.48 Material Cost = $200.00 Total (without binding) = 956.48 Binding - 118" x 2 + 112" x 2 = 460" 460" x $.25/" = $115 Grand Total (with binding) = $1071.
Busy Quilting
From over the ocean estimate:- I've never done a commission but I reckon I am worth my dollars!!!! SO $1926 and we won't go into the exchange rate! Lyn
quiltingjoyful51
I would say $1900.00 value. but would probably get $950.00.
Sandra Darlington
This is so interesting! I keep coming back to read the new posts and see the prices everyone is guessing.

Susanne.Hughes
Ok, I'll estimate........... set up fee $ 25.00 Thread fee $ 25.00 likely to be more Batting $23.50/meter $ 70.50 Fabric $ 200.00 Binding $25/linear meter @ 11.7 meters $ 292.50 Custom Heirloom @ $80/sq meter $ 684.00 Cutting/pressing/farta$$ing around time 2 hrs $ 55.00 Sewing 32.5 hrs @ $27.50 $ 893.75 Total $2,245.75 In Australia we would pay a lot more for the fabric so I would estimate conservatively another Aus$288.00 on top of this price. The likelyhood is that the fabric would add another $300 to $400 depending on the quality. If custom quilting might as well go for the good stuff!! Intersting topic. countrystitcher
I'm probably too cheap on this one, but guessing $1252.80 with binding completed and a promise my name would appear on the label and rights to enter shows with it. This quilt is very lovely - get your price whatever you decide. This is why I'm not doing custom quilting anymore, people just don't want to pay you for the time and effort. I do it for a few select friends and myself but that's it. Hard decision, but I can finish simplier overalls and pantos and make up the difference in the hours it takes for a custom!!! That's my 2 cents. Good Luck! Sharon
MarieBrewer
I'm thinking $1250. Can't believe you didn't establish a price before it was started.
Dave-Jane
Marie, we did establish a price, just seeing what the survey brings for the fun / education factor for everyone. I'm learning already!---Dave B.
LinneaMarie
I'm guessing about $1800 to $1825. Like Joyce I'd probably get half of that! I just had a customer for whom I added blocks, sashing and borders. Total with quilting was $436. I supplied the batting, backing, and extra fabrics. I also did the binding. She was upset with the price!!!:mad::mad: The quilt was 99" x 99".
KerryM
In Canada........ we pay way more for our fabrics, probably double, but I think our custom quilting rates are less...I was involved in a heirloom project, The other gal did the fabric, piecing, and all finishing binding etc., I did the quilting.......End price...............$1500.00. That project was a king size quilt, so slightly smaller, 110" sq.
Guest LA
I hope what ever you end up with it is well worth your time for this beautiful quilt, wow!
DoryJM
Okay, I wanna play! Fabric $200.00 Piecing 30 hours at $20/hour: $600 (I try not to do anything for less than $20 an hour) Quilting 30 hours at $.05 (at least) per si:$660 I'd charge at least $1500...of course, no one would pay me that, unless it was Monopoly money:P:D
hollyc
$1200 start to finish custom of that size is minimal
rlhdesigns
I would have charge $2200 from start to finish.
CindyT
I just want to play so my guess is $830.10 (the date). :D:D Nobody in this area would pay what it's worth. Just a beautiful quilt and quilting, BTW!
LinneaMarie
oh, wise grasshopper! I hope you were wise to charge a LOT!!
PamelaA
I would say a minimum of $2000 but I doubt that is what you get. The piecing is wonderful and the quilting really sets everything off. Very few people understand the time, effort, and skill involved in doing a total quilt. Someone asked me to do a king size quilt for him. I told him he couldn't afford me. Pamela
Ferret
$1500 ish, it would have been more over here, probably closer to $2000. Ferret
