danae
I"ve been asked about minky top and back just wondering if anyone has done this? are there tricks or tips I should know about? which way the stretch should go on each side. Do I use batting?
witha'K'quilting
i like to pin the selvage edge of the minkee to the rollers. and do not overstretch the minkee.
quiltlover03
Minke top and bottom can be done bit you are pushing a lot of material. Your batting should be fairly thin, and I recommend a batting, if not, you will have a "rain drops" effect after quilting. Pin your selvage edges to the leaders, least amount of stretch, and do not roll too tight. I like to roll it tight and then roll back to relax it just so, hard to explain. I also use the side clamps just so it keeps the fabric from drooping. Other than that...it's great to work with, the results are lovely and it is soooooo cuddly. have fun! Quilting Heidi
I agree with Kristina and Monika. It certainly can be done just don't over-tighten or you will have a big mess.
delld
I've done several and had no problem but they were small.
LadyLake
Load the minkee so that the stretchiest direction runs parallel with the roller bars. I'd stay away from dense quilting.
JustSewSimple
I've done a few and used batting in one and didn't in the other. The one without the batting retained the softness better.
