Wonderfil Thread Test

There was a question about Wonderful Thread the other day and thought someone may be interested in the testing I did of the samples I had.

Tutti 50 wt top and bobbin - #18 needle

Bobbin tension at 140-150 on the TOWA scale

Top tension at normal (because I have used this thread the most I used this as the norm)

Silco Tex 40wt top and Bobbin 50wt Tutti - #18 needle

Bobbin tension at 100 on the TOWA scale

Top tension at normal

Silco Tex 40wt top and Bobbin 50wt Marathon Tread Cotton Look - #18 needle

Bobbin tension at 110 on the TOWA scale

Top tension at normal

Silco Tex was nice cotton thread with NO lint to speak of. Needed to go a bit slow in order not to break. Quite a spin in the thread though.

Konfetti 50wt top and Bobbin 50wt Marathon Tread Cotton Look- #18 needle

Bobbin tension at 100 on the TOWA scale

Top tension at turned down (less) ¾ turn.

This was by far my favourite thread and hated to see it run out. Really fast thread, smooth, no lint, nice sheen and beautiful look.

Polyester 40wt top and Bobbin bottom line 60wt polyester - #16 needle

Bobbin at 140

Top less 1.5 turns from normal

This was nice thread, easy and fast

Metallic top and Bobbin bottom line 60wt polyester - #20 needle

Bobbin at 100

Top less 2 turns from normal

I gave up after 6 tries as thread kept catching on spool tabs (I have this problem with most of your samples but realize that they are only samples and thread would be cleaner coming off a full spool)

Invisafil 100 wt top and Bobbin bottom Line 60wt poly - #16 needle

Bobbin at 100

Top less 3 turns from normal, then had to take out of first guide hole above tension wheel to decrease tension enough to stop from breaking.

Nice look but painfully slow thread. I think I would charge my clients a bit more if they wanted to use this thread as you have to be soooo patient with it.

40wt Rayon and Bobbin bottom Line 60wt poly - #16 needle then tried an #18

Bobbin at 100

Top ???

I just could not use this thread for quilting as it just shredded at the needle within a few stitches.
