never-again quilt

Recommended Posts

Because I am a beginning quilter I took a quilt from a lady that is causing much distress. ( lady is not the cause of the distress)Backing is a slippery poly type bargain fabric which looks like it was cut with eyes closed. I am having terrible trouble with tension so will have another go tonight. From now on I will do quilts with quality cotton backing and decent batting. If everyone did the same we could educate customers not to bring projects on which we cannot do our best work.

Thanks to all on the website who tell of their sewing and froggiing on projects such as this. Your postings have made me feel better about finishing this monster.

Oh Sylvia - we ALL feel your pain! It's the "been there - done that" thingy!

We all need to learn and make our mistakes - trust me - I have too!! I had

a very nice backing, quilt shop fabric, a tye-dyed batik kind of thing.....

anyhow - it should have been pre-washed before quilting! Messed with my

tension big time! And it sounded like sewing through paper! I have even

used sheets for backing, do a search on that topic - it's in here!

Good Luck and hang in there - Live and Learn!!
