Borderline Quilter
I want to pick your brains, I have a customer who would like me to quilt a comforter style quilt, they sleep with just a sheet and a comforter....in Scotland???? Anyway, it's the same fabric front and back (not pieced and even the same colours), it's a simple panto but with two layers of Hobbs poly.... has anyone quilted two layers...do you think I will need to lift my hopping foot??? Don't want to do it if it's not necessary...thanks in anticiapation....
Quiltsinmotion
I have quilted a Duvet in upholstery fabric with double poly battings each 1/2 inch loft with out having to raise my hopper foot , so you should be just fine with out any adjustments to your hopping foot good luck ~ quilting with a Milli
Bonnie
I wouldn't think you need to lift it, but if you get where you look like you have a bubble in front of the foot then maybe. If the stitches re pod and no skipping I opulent mess with it. The only ime I've lifted mine was where the batting was really really puffy poly. Hobbs poly is considered a thin poly. delld
I quilted the angel baby quilt. Had the minkie, 80/20 and full thickness of wool. Had not trouble!!1 I think you will be fine!
Quilting Heidi
I've quilted two layers and didn't have to raise my foot. I'd keep an eye on the sandwich and make sure your foot isn't causing you to push the upper fabric or batting causing a pucker.
Anette D.
I've quilted with two battings and did not have to raise the foot. I think the bigger issue is picking a panto that is dense enough to hold everything together and yet sparse enough to allow the fluffy effect the customer must want in a comforter style. Lib
I have also quilted with two layers of batting and didn't have to raise my foot. I didn't have any problems. Lib

Bonnie
C@@p I hate my phone or iPad at times. I usually really have to proof read because of auto correct. Must have been in a hurry. Now I can't even go back to correct it I don't remember what I was saying. Oh I remember it should have said. If your stitches are good not skipping don't mess with it. Man that was like pulling a tooth....and the comic relief for the day.

Mrs.A
I quilted an Indian Orange Peel (lots and lots of seam allowances) with two wool batts. What was I thinking? Never again! Remember I'm moving the sandwich & not the machine...it weighed a ton and was very bulky...even with a 20" throat. Anyway, I did have to raise George's hopping foot for that sandwich but it was not difficult to do. I agree with the others who said to try it out & if you find that the foot is pushing the fabric ahead of it, then you might have to make a small adjustment. You'll be fine! Neher-in-law5
I have just about finished using up 3 rolls of Thinsulate that was thicker than I used to get. If you let it relax it measured at 2 inches in loose height, but I have been quilting it with George for years without changing anything besides tension depending on the thread I am using. I'm so sick of the quilt on my frame at the moment, as you know it's one of my own, I'm having a love hate relationship with it as you also know....but it's nearly done though, should be off the frame today...hooray!
