anniemueller
I need to put the Baptist Fan on a customer's quilt, and I have no idea how to set the size. Any advice? I have quilted the BF once before, and I felt like I made it too big. I'll be using the IQ BF generator. This quilt is made with reproduction fabrics, she wants it done in the 30's style. Thanks for your help!
ffq-lar
The quilting police stay away from my house because I never listen to them but my rule of thumb for quilting density seems to be scaling the quilting to the smallest piecing in the top. If you have one inch squares maybe space the BF lines an inch apart. You can go smaller if you want. Can you sketch something on a piece of Mylar to audition the scale? Remember as well that in vintage hand-quilting the BFs were all over the place as far as spacing and number of fan arcs in one fan. I saw a gorgeous vintage quilt with fans that were huge--maybe twenty arcs in each fan!

Corey
Annie, I posted a real vintage fan quilt that I quilted for a customer, I scaled it down in proportion to the fans size. I just bumped it for you to see. Corey
