SueB2
George is suppose to arrive today. Room finished getting stuff out at 9pm last night. Junk is in container tub till hubby tosses most of it. Anyway questions What needles do you use for King Tut thread ( I have a bunch and am hoping George doesn't throw any fits) for invisible thread, and for silk thread? Thanks Has anyone had trouble using the invisible thread on their machines? Thanks for your help.
Neher-in-law5
I have used the 3.5 size needles with my George and not had a problem with King Tut or finer threads. I've used Rainbows and Invisfil threads too.
ffq-lar
Best to keep a couple of sizes handy for any problems you encounter. Sizes 3.5-4.0-4.5 will cover most things you'll want to stitch. And keep a note for which size needle works best with which thread, if you run into issues. The machines are timed for a 4.0 but most problems you'll encounter will be with a too-small needle for thick thread (shredding and breaking) rather than too large a needle for thin thread. Cotton is trickier thread and poly thread seems to work no matter what. The unwritten rule is bigger needle for thicker thread. That said, I've used a 4.0 for most everything, including invisible. o2b Quilting
Go to the Superior Threads website. They have a page you can download and print telling you what needles they recommend with each type of thread they sell. I printed it off and have it in my drawer to look at to refresh my brain from time to time (when I change thread types)
