jbnt9999
I am doing a Christmas tree skirt, and want the tread to show but have tried several and just can't get it? Please help, any suggestions? Bright green? Metallic? Darker gold, thicker thread? I am using isacord but have some superior "Bright" solid, variegated? ffq-lar
I think your best bet if you want to use only one color is a dark gold. It'll show up nicely on the green/red/batik and recede a bit on the gold background. That's exactly what you want to emphasize--the piecing. If you want more oomph--use a heavier weight dark gold on the piecing with medium density quilting, like your samples. Then use a matching gold in the background and a denser design. BTW---nice geese!
Heirloom Quilter
I agree with Linda. As soon as I looked at your photos I thought Dark Gold, then I scrolled down and saw that Linda had already suggested it! LOL Be sure to post pictures when you finish. jbnt9999
I must not be using the search right, I'm trying to find how to thread the machine when using the top spindle. Do you use the middle thread guide? I know I should be able to find it with out bothering everyone.
Sheri Butler
I ALWAYS and ONLY use the middle thread guide for ALL my threads!
ffq-lar
I do the same as Sheri. If you bypass that guide you won't get consistent tension on the top thread.
jbnt9999
Thanks, I just looked on a Myra video and it looked liked she bypassed this when using top spindles. Off to try . thanks again, you all always save me!
jbnt9999
See my pictures. I did it! Actually the spool would not fit on the spindle so I Velcro another spool to the base and used two threads. It went great and I didn't even have to adjust tension very much. . .
