yweinst
Hello, I have yet another question. Thank you for being patient with a newbie. I was wondering when you need to pick thread off of the batting while you are already loaded how do you do this? Thanks, Yael
maggienoella
All I do is check as I advance that there are no threads on the batting. I read about being able to pick it out with a needle but I don't remember what it was now. Maybe someone will give better tips. Joan
micajah
an extremely tiny crochet hook, size 12 -14 works very well to snag a thread under the quilt top.
mamu
picking threads off the batting is mainly to make sure that they do not shadow through to the front. should you see a 'wayward' thread you can wiggle it out with a stout needle if you don't have that tiny crochet hook. ffq-lar
Great tips! With each advance i check for show-through of colored threads through light fabrics and remove them by hand. For those found after quilting, I use the tiny crochet hook. If the thread is fraying from an edge, you may pull out more threads with the hook, so use an old machine needle to push the stray attached thread back under the seam allowance. klwheeler
I find it easier to pick threads off batting before adding the top. That way I don't get stray threads often.
