I assume the frame will be wider, requiring more square footage in a studio. Freehand can still be done of course. Not for me, but maybe for others. Sue E. Posted December 9, 2016 Report Share Posted December 9, 2016 I think the 30" is great. Of course, I am computerized and rely 100% on the IQ for my quilting. There have been many times over the past 11 years that I wished I had more throat space but I love my Millie and would never change out for the machines that would give me more. There have been quite a few times when I could have really used the extra depth -- on the last quilt I just took off the frame for example.
