BethDurand
So Mary Beth, How is Jen doing these days? I'm hoping that "no news is good news" in regards to her pregnancy. I'm still thinking and praying for her and you both. Keep us posted please. Beth
Mary Beth
Jen is just about 100% better!! Praise the Lord! She was just her and I gave her a sneek peek at this message boards. She thinks you all are just too much. Please do keep her in your prayers. She is still having nausea, but it is more like a normal pregnancy now. It's funny, she and her DH and another couple made a bet that one of them would lose the most weight by June 1st and the others would be taking the "biggest loser" out to dinner. Guess who the biggest loser turned out to be. She said, "That's pretty bad when the pregnant girl wins the weight loss competition!". She will find out on June 21 if it is a girl or a boy....that just happens to be my birthday!! What a birthday present. We will also find out the results fo the tests they did the other day, so it will be good to know all about that. Thank you for asking, I should have posted something sooner, just waiting to make sure she is okay. She will be going back to work on June 4th, unless they lay her off....they are talking about that. She is trying not to worry about it, but that is where her medical insurance is thru...always something.
victoriasews
I sent a u2u but it hasn't been read so I'll post here. I sent my baby blocks in the mail today from Indiana. I thought I'd read where we had until the end of June and then saw the post that upped it to this week. Hope mine makes it in time.
April W
I'm with Mary Beth and Jen in thanking all of you gracious and giving quilting ladies. It is absolutely awesome what you are all doing and makes me sit here and cry with gratitude. Thank you all so much for being here and showing how much you care. dancingstitcher
Thank you to Bonnie Botts, Elizaville, NY (yellow baskets); Beth Durand, Portland, OR (green with cherries); Kate Meyers, Sevierville, TN (green and white polka dots); Bekah Tellez, Gresham, OR (whole bottom row of blocks and embroidered prayers). You all were so thoughtful to make these darling blocks and the prayers too. Thank you also to those who added funds to your envelopes to share some minky with me. Bless you. Victoria and Cris from Spain I believe are the last two with gifts in the mail. If anyone else has sent blocks, please let me know. Over the weekend I'll begin the block assembly and wait for their items to sew the last stitch then plan to send off the quilts to Linda Rech for the quilting. Can't wait to see the collection all together. I'll bet you troops can't wait either. In case you can't read in the photo what Bekah wrote in her embroidered prayers, they are: "Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray thee Lord my soul to keep"; "Sleep my child and peace attend thee. All through the night guardian angels God will send thee."; "Good morning Lord. Be with me all day. Bless Thy beasts and singing birds. And guard with tenderness small things that have no words". Your blocks will send so many words of comfort, encouragement, and love. When I visited our thirty year old daughter who lives in Los Angeles, I found crumpled up on her sofa the quilt my mother made her when she was five. That's an ahhhh moment. Good night. Mary Beth
Beautiful!! I was at Jen's the other day and she still has the quilt my late sister made for her when she was born, out where we can see it. If she has a girl she is going to hang it on the wall in the nursry. dancingstitcher
Viki Kirby, West Point, IN sent these four cute blocks and fabric squares. I have never seen a kangaroo applique before, or even a zebra either. These four are so darling. Thank you Viki for taking the time to gift so many blocks. Good idea Mary Beth. It's wonderful when these baby and child's quilts last for many years and are so treasured. Maybe some day you will post a picture of the quilt your sister made for Jen. One of the women at our chapter meeting yesterday appliqued an elephant in minky to the front of her new grandson's quilt. It was a very cute idea since the main body of the quilt was all squares. The only block I'm missing is fabric from Cristy. I'll start on the piecing tomorrow. Thank you again to everyone who has given of themselves to make this a fabulous offering for Jen and Jessica. Have a great weekend. At ease troops. Vicki

dancingstitcher
Just got Lorrie's cute flower blocks and here is the pink one in Jen's quilt. The other will go into Jessica's quilt. I'm going to put 1" yellow strips horizontally and vertically into the quilt like window panes so all the blocks will have their own little frame. Then do a 3" border around the perimeter to let Linda Rech do some fun things. The back is yellow minkie. Vicki
dancingstitcher
Here's the preliminary mock up of Jen's quilt. As you can see there are only four fabric panels. You troops have been busy making blocks. One or two more blocks are in the mail to me so will have to remove a fabric piece or two. Jessica's quilt has 27 blocks right now so it's going to be darling too and very similar to this one only with blue in the strips, border, and minky back. Hopefully I can get this first one out the door to Linda in a day or two. Aren't you guys proud. Look what a wonderful job you have done. Pat, pat, hug, hug. victoriasews
The roo and zebra appliques are from secretsof.com under Hatched in Africa and are called Cuddlesome Critters. They are some of my very favorite patterns. There is a zebra, kangaroo, bear, rhino, elephant, fox, hippo, giraffe, lion, and some other ones I don't use because they aren't wild animals. I think there is a chick, rabbit, owl, etc. I have made several quilts from them. They just make everyone say Awwwww.
Patch
Just mailed my two salmon blocks with two pastels priority, so don't know how soon they'll get there, so here's a pic. Hope they can be fitted in....

April W
Everybody has done a wonderful job, all the blocks are so cute. I've printed copies of them to show Jessica , she is coming up for her baby shower Saturday the 16th. She has another ultrasound in Kansas City on the 26th to see how the baby is doing and decide where the baby needs to be born. Her regular doctor and the KC specialist are not in agreement as to the condition of the baby, so we are hoping for the best outcome. Thanks again for your prayers and efforts during these pregnancies.
Patch
All our prayers go with her, April. "He's got the itty-bitty baby in His hands...."! Peace to you all in this time.
dancingstitcher
Thanks Patty for showing me your blocks. Now I know where to put them and can begin assembly today. It's a sincere compliment if we all want to copy your design. I do. That's great that you troops like the block layout. They are going to be unique darling quilts. Nice to hear from you Mary Beth and April. Hope all the tests for Jessica's baby come out well. Don't forget to post baby pictures when the timing works out. Patch
Oh thank you! But this is not my design. I got it off a website and revised it for this purpose. Here is the url for the original: http://www.quilterscache.com/E/EasyFishBlock.html, apparently by a Marcia Hohn. Thanks, Marcia, if you're out there looking at this!! Judi
Vicki - I like your layout - nice! and those fishy blocks are so cute Patty! I was thinking first, the color of the block as well, then no - oh - they ARE salmon!! I am guessing that is a little prairie point flap of a gill? Cute! Still thinking of those Mommy's to be - and lets not forget that Fathers day is fast approaching! You are all still in our prayers! (That goes for the Grandmas too!!)
