Bobbin Thread Breaks When I First Start

Recommended Posts

When I pull my bobbin thread up through to begin quilting my bobbin thread will break. I have to take it out, pull enough length out to be able to pull it back up through the quilt again. This happens about 50% of the time and when doing a continuous design it doesn't happen often only when you're doing designs that require a lot of stopping and starting. I'm being very smooth with my take off, I'm not jerking the machine. Any suggestions?

It sounds like the rotation stop position needs to be adjusted.  It either under or over rotates when you stop.  Sorry, I don't know what machine you have or how to adjust your machine.  Jim

What thread are you using in the bobbin? Try Bottom Line thread by Superior threads it is a 60 wt. and is an excellent bobbin thread.  Also check your bobbin tension. I use a Towa tension gauge but you can also use the Jamie Wallen test. Here is the youtube link  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1mRhcquZTM
