Hi Sue,

It's not a new module - this function has been in the program since the beginning, but I only highlighted it a couple of weeks ago. See demo slideshows on page:

http://www.pre-design.eu/sewingpatterns02.htm'>http://www.pre-design.eu/sewingpatterns02.htm and

http://www.pre-design.eu/sewingpatterns01.htm'>http://www.pre-design.eu/sewingpatterns01.htm

For an Open House of a sewing store here in Holland I needed something else than Pantos to show that resizing and printing at actual size is a breeze in Pre-Design, so I came up with the idea to show how to size and print your own garment patterns in Pre-Design. I made the slide shows and everyone was immediately enthusiast about it :).

The slideshows are on the Pre-Design website for embroiderers.

Enjoy the program!

I had another question, too. Can you scan drawings into the program?

Hi Joan,

Yes to both questions! When your drawing is done in Pre-Design choose menu File > Export EMF and import this EMF file into Corel Draw. You will have to find out which of the two EMF-types you prefer: EMF A will have thin black lines. EMF Type be will have thicker lines in the color you used while drawing.

Both types will still be fully editable vector files.

Your second question: there are three ways to get a background image into Pre-Design via menu Background:

1. open an existing image already on your computer (jpg, bmp of wmf format)

2. You can scan an image (use a low resolution of 72-100 dpi!!)

3. You can paste an image from the clipboard - so copy an image to the clipboard in another program, and then paste it into Pre-Design.

Then take the Curve tool and trace the image by clicking from point to point, double-click to end a line. You won\'t need many points to get nice smooth curves. See also page:

http://quilters.pre-design.eu/screenshots.htm for demo slideshows how to draw quilt patterns.

You can download a fully functional 21 day trial version on page: http://quilters.pre-design.eu/trial.htm

The User Guide (with extra chapters for longarm quilting in the back) can be opened inside Pre-Design, via menu Help > Help (PDF).

Enjoy the program!

Hi Joan,

Where are you located? After the Kansas show we will be traveling to Washington Missouri (near St Louis), then to Peoria in Illinois, then to Chicago, after that to Toronto and Niagara Falls. If you happen to be somewhere close, you could visit one of the dealers where I will be teaching :)

See page: http://artistitch.pre-design.eu/usa_2008.htm

Oh I wish!

That is certainly one of my dreams, along with going to Houston. But our trip from Europe to MQS and our teaching trip thereafter from Kansas to St Louis (MO), Peoria (Il), Chicago, Toronto, and Philadelphia in May is quite a big journey and crossing the ocean twice in such short time.... hmm that will be "in my dreams..."

I am working on a CD/DVD project right now, to be released at MQS and available later through our website and through Claudia Pfeil. It will be a full, complete and very inspiring CD/DVD how to digitize your own patterns with Pre-Design, so hopefully it will be the next best thing to actually being at Paducah :)
