Hartley Fence, Circle Lord, Quiltazoid?????

Recommended Posts

As a new 1/4 owner of a Lenni (4 of us are sharing)...I am enjoying this forum so much! And we are loving the Lenni!

I am in such a quandry. I have the opportunity to purchase one of these tools, but I just don't know which would be appropriate. I have experience working on a longarm doing work for a quilt shop, but have never owned one. And haven't used any of these tools.

Guess you could say I need advice???? My 'partners' aren't so interested in any of these tools, as they are busy learning the basics.

I have no doubt that they will jump on board when they see what they can do with them.

Any advice is really, really appreciated.:)

welcome carol.

It really depends on the type of quilting you wish to do. I have both the Hartley Fence and the Quiltazoid...and use both depending on what it is I wish to do.

I love my Quiltazoid for circles and spirograph designs. I use my Hartley fence for circles and diagonal crosshatching. Depends on which machine I use and which application I need.

I find I much prefer freehand designs...but each of these tools allows me to do specialized quilting when I want it.

Hi Carol,

Welcome to the forum. There was a thread about this question a few days ago that might be useful to you.

There are videos on both the Circle Lord and Quiltazoid sites that will give you some idea of how they both work and the differences between the two.

Enjoy your new Lenni.

I love my Circle Lord and all of the templates that I have. There has been a lot of discussions about the different products and we can't say whether one is easier to use or less expensive or better because it is like making a comparison of apples and oranges. Everyone must decide on the features that will work best for him/her. The Circle Lord is easy to use, not much of a learning curve, great designs, wonderful customer service, and I wouldn't be without it.

Michael has a contest/quilt show going on now. Everyone who enters receied $3.00 credit toward their Circle Lord purchase for each accepted entry into the contest. He ran a contest in 2010 and over 300 entries were submitted, and it was a fabulous on-line quilt show with prizes being generous credits toward Circle Lord products. Quilts showing spectacular use of the Circle Lord and templates were submitted and all were an inspiration.

Following are links to previous comments and discussions on the topic, and check out their web site to view the quilts from the 2010 contest:

I debated a purchase of one of the various accessories you mention in your message. I waited almost a year before I decided to buy the Circle Lord. It seemed to be the most versatile.

Have you looked at the latest Circle Lord 2012 show of quilts. Here is the link:

You can purchase the Circle Lord stylus and some of the template boards to start out---and add the stepping disks and more template boards as time goes on. Michael has a good payment plan if you need to go that route. I truly enjoy my Circle Lord system, and have no regrets.

Thank you all for your responses. I will continue to research. I have gotten myself totally confused as I watch the videos and visit the sites. Which I have been doing for days now. Each one has features that appeal to me. And each one is "the best" as I watch them perform (til I watch the next one!). This is not an inexpensive product, so I'm trying to use my "noggin" and make an informed choice. One that I will be happy with.

Thanks to you all,

Carol
