  1. I'm really enjoying my new addition. She is a beauty! I have been having fun playing with her, and even managed to repair a well loved quilt for my oldest daughter. My first quilts were matching toddler quilts with Minkee backing. I had so much fun free motion quilting these. I have learned a lot about tension, and loved how much easier it was to handle the Minkee on Esther vs. my domestic machine.

  2. Happy Thanksgiving to all of our extended APQS family members! We are so blessed and thankful to have you as our loyal customers and friends. APQS will close at 2 p.m. today for the Thanksgiving Holiday, and will reopen on Monday, December 2nd. I will check emails throughout the weekend if you have a "quilt emergency"! May God's blessings be upon you and your family.

  3. I just saw this pattern in a current magazine! My customer, Karla, is on top of getting her quilts put together, that's for sure. It was a fun one to quilt. Hobbs 80/20 batting and So Fine thread. Thanks for looking. Karlas2013xmasquilt by chrometopquilts, on Flickr karlas2013xmasquiltdetail by chrometopquilts, on Flickr

    Extra batting and backing

I got one in last week with a half-inch extra on the sides and a whole inch on the ends. When I gave it back after quilting, I left the horrible blue fabric I had sewn on for extensions. She wanted to know what that was for. I explained I needed some extra fabric to grab on to. I told her when she trimmed the quilt, it would go away. I think from the look on her face the information sunk in.

    Loading the quilt

Kimmy Brunner has a YouTube video on loading that is good. Different machine but same exact principle. You should get some videos with your new machine, too. I am sure there are many other YouTubes besides Kimmy's as well. Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new machine!

  13. Cindy, I use my Singer Magic Press 4 (I've had it 25+years; bought it to press my husband's pants!) It doesn't use steam, so I cover the graphics with a press cloth and spritz with water, then press. It gives a nice crisp finish to the tshirt blocks.
