Oh, this is a fun topic! I was one block short when finishing a quilt. Couldn't find that block anywhere but knew I had made it. Finally gave up looking and re-cut and pieced another one. No sooner did I get that new block done when I realized I was sitting on the one I couldn't find. It blended in perfectly with my chair pad! Felt more like I was one brick short more than one block short.9 points -

These are pictures of the ribbons my group made for our Quilts by the Sea quilt show and the baskets I made for the local company that made the base of our ribbons. We made the cockades and added them with a shell. 002 by delld1964, on Flickr 003 by delld1964, on Flickr 004 by delld1964, on Flickr 007 by delld1964, on Flickr4 points

My customer made this quilt for her 6 year old grandaughter. She wanted it custom because she's entering it in a local show and they only permit one entry per category from each person. 2014 El Camino Guild Quilt
JustSewSimple and 2 others reacted to Merryjo2003 for a topic
Hi all! I try to keep up on the forum, but haven't been posting much lately. Dealing with a "Frozen Shoulder" and trying to decide on surgery or not. Good thing is, I can still quilt. If it wasn't for all the pain, I would just live with it. This is my guild's 2014 Opportunity Quilt. It is just stunning and was a pleasure to quilt. It's all needle turn applique and is one of the best technical applique jobs I have ever seen. Not a stitch out of place, loose or and flawed in any way. I've had the pleasure of quilting 3 out of the last 4 years of the guild's opportunity quilts. They3 points -
I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a new George owner living in Tucson. I am finally getting control of George! The first few weeks that he lived in my sewing space I was totally intimidated by him. After getting the stitches looking better I'm actually beginning to have fun with him. He is really one handsome guy! I enjoy reading all your posts. Actually I was reading your posts before I finally made the decision to buy George. Keep your ideas coming! I feel so much better hearing about all your ideas and problems. Janalyn2 points

Nancy, the thanks and credit should go to Heidi M. when she had the challenge on here to use a stencil for a wholecloth quilt. She told how she uses just part of one stencil design if that's what fits in the space, and the full stencil for other areas. That has really helped me find designs for different areas of my quilts because I just can't wrap around the overall designs. They just don't fit my brain style (or eye choice). I, also, use washable markers or chalk pencil/wheels to create a guideline for some free form.2 points -
A recent finish
gardenslug reacted to Mandalei for a topic
I just finished this one up last week! I was uncertain of it when I got started, but really liked how it turned out. I love how she pieced the back. I used the spiral feather to tie all the blocks together, and did a different fill around them for each block.1 point -

There is a group of us each making a Farmer's Wife. We meet once a month. It's a lesson in paper piecing for most of us. Anyway, Someone called me from across the room to ask a question, so I got up from my machine, walked over there, answered the question and went back to my machine. I couldn't find the piece I was working on. Where could it have gone??? I walked back across the room, looked on the floor, the ironing surface - it was no where. Oh wait, the white paper is up and it's under my needle with half the seam sewed. Not really a goof, but I sure did feel silly. Everyone got a1 point -

I've had to rip a fair bit of quilting, and the act of picking out those stupid little loops drives me nuts so I still have one of my first projects still pinned on the zipper leaders I zipped off in despair. Fast forward to two years later, and I just figured out how to get those loops out without becoming enraged: machingers! just rub those rubbery fingers all over and they come right out.1 point -

I've done the fusible with the iron too. Not fun. One that I hate the most is when I decided to try a method of hand appliqué & then decided I liked the old fashioned way better. Those projects still sit. Joan1 point -

I couldn't sleep one night & decided at 3am to press my 1" bow tie blocks & trim off the triangles. You guessed it; I carefully folded & cut the top triangle off instead of the bottom. It's still sitting in a box!1 point -

The very first quilt I made was from a book of quilts made with fat quarters. I thought that I was carefully following directions but then found I had erred. Ripped and tried again. Alas, still did not have it right. Decided I did not care, completed the quilt and named it 'Granny's Folly.' Regarding the fusible on the iron, I have also done that. Use a dryer sheet to rub it off.1 point -

My Dearest Mrs. A, I figured you had something to do with the newest George in town and Janalyn, but in the world of, "never-bet-your-life-on-it" I wisely waited for you to appear in this thread. Janalyn, Nancy is a treasure! Enjoy and learn from her. Both are easy Jain1 point -

Hi Janalyn: I believe that you and George are going to make a terrific team. (Full disclosure here: I am the one who sold George to Janalyn. She is an accomplished seamstress switching from garment sewing to quilt making. She's already tired of sending her tops out to others. Janalyn has been here for two lessons so far and I've seen a great improvement in her stitch control. She is going to be a fast learner once she has a little more time to practice, practice, practice). I think Madelyn has a great idea for you. Since you've already demonstrated more confidence stitching on a1 point

LED light Systems for APQS longarms
Quilting Heidi reacted to mikeferris for a topic
Thanks Heidi it was received, current shipping is running 3 weeks but I'm working on reducing that currently. You will love the improved view and lighting. Hi Cathy the light system does not interfere with the Micro-drive handle/bracket. The light system slides in behind it, just under the head portion only. Thanks, Mike1 point -
