  1. This is just off the frame. This is my version of the American Patchwork and Quilting August Cover Quilt. So-Fine Thread. Meander Circle Lord Board. The quilt took close to 100 hours to cut out and sew. My nephew will be getting this. Mary

  2. So, it's nearing the end of the day, you are getting tired, but are SO close to finishing this quilt that has been on your machine for way too long. "Come on baby. Just a little bit more." So the thread broke, we can finish this tonight. I'm not that tired. One thing leads to another, and then you've done something really stupid, like trying to stitch with the needle threaded, but no bobbin thread. Then it gets ugly. I get that mess cleaned up, and my first thought is "Well heck. Got that taken care of, let's finish this after all!" Even though you've been telling yourself and your machi

  3. HI! I finished up this large 86" by 98" Batik quilt last night. I used Glide thread and Magna glide bobbins. The panto is "Come Dance With Me". It was my first time to use this panto and I really enjoyed stitching it. I hope you can see it in the pictures. 4. Follow the link to the Judy N. Dragon Star pattern quilt. The full shot is blurry, but follow the right arrow for detail shots. Continue right to view two more recent finishes. Another JN. I think it's Misty Mountain Pond? And the other is a Christmas quilt with a striped border. Except for the holly in the border print, it doesn't look much like Christmas. I stitched holly with curved spines in the background fabric to enclose the stars and accent the Christmas theme. This customer has me stitch a heart with her initials at the bottom of each of her quilts. It's a nice touch and a remembrance

  5. The pattern name is Tuella & Friends by QP Designs and designed by Colette Belt. Will is Glenna's friend from Australia visiting Houston where her friend Glenna lives. Glenna tutored Will to appliqué while making her granddaughter one. So there are 2 almost identical quilts I finished 2 weeks ago.

  6. That looks kind of jumbled because of the daisy striped fabric with the pieced half. Not saying it isn't pretty, just that custom quilting will be lost on this one. There isn't even a "pseudo block" where you could drop in a stencil to overlay something pretty in a thread with a bit of contrast. But you could--- Use thin thread or invisible thread to outline the flowers in all the full triangle blocks, and mimic that on the border. Do a medium (and not elaborate) filler in matching thread on the red and yellow. Just a nice stipple to push back the backgrounds would let the daisies stand

  9. Barbara and Nancy's Roseville Album is finally finished! Wheew! I love how this turned out and I'm honored that I was able to work on it...but I'm not gonna lie...I am SO happy to be finished!!!!!!! Even my Mom has started calling it the "monster" quilt. LOL! Out of love of course...because it is beautiful...and SO STINKIN' BIG! It is an over sized King at 140" x 140"....and I am officially sick of cross hatching. LOL I used Invisifil thread for the entire quilt and went through five water soluble markers...it took me about 7 weeks combined with a full day for marking the top, a

  14. Wow, that's some awesome quilting. I really like the quilt, with the exception of the white background fabric in the middle. Just something about that is very jarring to me, but otherwise, it's very nice. Your quilting is really superb.

  28. Well, we will both be in good company! Only the judges know what will happen! The MQX show is very late in getting their shipping entries letter out! I just got my e-mail today, Friday. I have to ship my entries on Tuesday (Labou Day is getting inthe way) to get my entries there by the September 9th deadline! They are cutting it close!

Put your business cards in as many surrounding LQS's as you can and become involved with local guilds. Do a trunk show for them if you can. Spread the word! You have so much talent - I think you have found your niche!

  32. Sue, here's a link to a photo of an easy freemotion design that would give great sculptured definition to that black 2" border. Check out the pale blue border. Mark diamonds with chalk on the border---make them any number/length that fits from cornerstone to cornerstone. Then stitch close parallel lines to fill the space outside the diamonds. Beautiful stitched with matching thread. Arrow right for a detail shot---you can see my lines aren't exact, but it works. I call them "soft diamonds". https://www.flickr.com/photos/larech/14890444579/

  34. On those borders you could do feathers in the solid areas and repeat in the blocks were the same fabric is used. Do Terry Twist or CC in the patches. Then in the rectangles do reversed swriles. I agree I would have a done a panto on this cause it is so busy. Good luck.

  36. Congratulations! Your web page looks great - shows what you've been up to . . . you'll be as busy as you want to be before you know it. I always try to make sure my customers know how much I appreciate their piecing (even if it's not perfect, it's still their quilt) and let them have lots of input on patterns and thread choices. Good luck!

  45. I am delivering this DWR to my customer this morning - I hope she likes it! When we met to discuss the quilting, she said her style is more "understated" - so we decided on thread colours that blend - but the quilting still stand out. I was a bit worried about the friendly borders, but the feather meander seemed to pull it all in nicely.

    Skipping Stitches

When I use computerized stitching, I have to have my top very tight. Also, I have found when I need a new needle I get skipped stitches. I know you said you have tried a new one, maybe it needs to be turned slightly.
